Mailart is a great way for those of us on a budget to collect beautiful works of art from our peers. Its great for networking (gallery owners and art educators are now becoming more involved in the phenomenon) and a perfect way for us to express ourselves in a no-pressure environment.
For those of you new to Mailart, there are a number of standard sizes that are popular and easy to mail. Below are the dimensions and visual examples.
(You might notice that some of these mailart sizes have no image examples! Create some artwork in those sizes and note me! I may include it in another article!)
ATC aka Artist Trading Card: 2.5x3.5 inches or 6.4x8.9 cm

ATC's are probably the most popular form of mailart, based on the size of baseball cards; they are very easy to mail.
APCs or Artist Post Cards: 4x6 inches or 10.2x15.2 cm
The same size as standard postcards, they can be mailed 'naked' or in an envelope to protect the art.
4x4s or Chunky/Chunkies: 4x4 inches or 10.2x10.2 cm
These can be displayed in many ways, by being strung together to create wall hanging or bound into books by key rings.
ATC Maxi: 5x3.5 inches or 12.7x8.7 cm
These are the same size as two ATCs (landscape orientation) stacked upon one another.
Inchies: these measure 1x1 inch or 2.54x2.54 cm
These are wonderful displayed in mosaic groupings.
"Skinny" pages: 3x7 inches or 7.6x7.6 cm
Skinny pages can have different dimensions, but the most accepted standard is given above. This size is excellent for a freestanding triptych.
Twinchies: 2x2 inches or 5.1x5.1 cm
These are just slightly larger than inchies.
Moo Card: 1.10 x 2.75 inches or 2.8x7 cm
Relatively new to the mailart scene, they are smaller versions of ATCs.
