In many areas of the US, there are major blood shortages! Read on for more about the shortage and how you can help.
The American Red Cross
announced on Monday severe shortages of blood in the United States. Figures going into the July 4th weekend showed that the organization had only a 2-day supply of all blood types, and due to excessive traveling, the supply has dropped since then. Therefore, many regional Red Crosses across the nation have issued appeals for immediate donations in their respective areas.
As reported by the
Danbury News-Times of Danbury, CT, the state of Connecticut is down to a 3/10th of a day supply of blood, which is significantly lower than the normal cushion of six days.
How can you help? Donate some blood if at all possible, and urge your family and friends to do the same. The criteria for donating is as follows:
You must be 17 years of age or older.
You must be at least 110 pounds.
You must be in good health.
You can donate blood every 56 days, and it is definitely worth it.
Show power in numbers, and help save someone's life!
Connecticut residents: You can find a listing of blood drives for the months of July and August
here. All other residents, please search the Internet for dates in your area.
Side note: This is not related to skinning or art in any way; It is more important. Please excuse this article as being off topic and realize the importance of it all. One day, heaven forbid, you or a loved one may be in a situation where blood is needed and it would be a shame if it weren't available.
Devious Comments
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against this topic, there is a blood shortage where I live aswell.
I was just wondering. Would this have made it to a newsarticle is if was a different country, say Germany?

it's a bit pointless to post this on DA anyway, because if this shortage is as dire as they describe it, then it would have been on tv, in the newspaper, and just about everywhere else anyone could imagine.
on the topic of blood donation, i really don't like the idea of close to being told that i should donate blood for one reason or another. don't you think if i wanted to, i would already be donating blood and helping the current shortage?
it's like anti-tobacco commercials; if people wanted to stop, they would have already stopped out of their own free will, and not because someone told them for the one millionth that smoking is bad for their health.
these appeals make me psychically ill.

Thanks `imike, if I were in CT, I'd pump somma me outta me.

-Oxymoronic or perfect sense?
-Common desire or unwanted?
-Best cure or the main cause?
Some of you also need to get yourselves out from under a rock. THERE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS IN THIS WORLD THAN ONLINE ART.
This can effect each and every american who reads this. SO don't go bitching.
And to all people who bitch "if this wasn't US news it wouldn't get posted": Have you tried posting news about your country that could affect all residents in it? Have you? I'm sure the staff would oblige. And I'm sure jark isn't US-centric. After all, he lives in Japan.
And the news about hte twins is a travesty, I agree. But how does this effect potentially hundreds of thousands of deviants?
