The project started as a mean to collect amazing artists all around deviant in a random way or as well for already personal recognition of the same, this is ONLY for the sake of art, no favoritism or popularity has anything to do with this, only REAL good art will enter in these articles, and the art exposed in here is what we personally consider the best of the best.
I've met many so-called artists who, through their poor art, become more popular than the real artists and make them lose their confidence. Therefore, I decided to protest by excellence using the methods, to do something for the great artists who have something to say but who are underrated because of the huge amount of poor "art". Helmut Newton Exhibit in Denmark: Sex and Landscapes, Yellow Press - 2003-09-13 until 2004-01-04. ARKEN Museum of Modern Art, Denmark
Then exhibition affords a rare opportunity to see the world-famous photographer Helmut Newton "through his own eyes". The exhibition contains about ninety pictures chosen by Newton himself. The photographs have never been previously shown in Denmark. Despite recognition and status in the art world Helmut Newton rejects the term "Artist". Helmut Newton revolutionised fashion photography in the 1960s and 70s and inspired an generation of young photographers with groundbreaking work (including the brilliant David LaChappelle, whos outrageous and stylistic contributions to the world of Fashion and Advertising can be seen everywhere from the pages of Vogue to Celebrity photoshoots to diesel jeans ads). Yet, still, Helmut Newton simply considers himself a... photographer.
The exhibition presents two Newton series: Sex and Landscapes and Yellow Press. The two series focus on Newtons oeuvre, from nudes and landscapes in Sex and Landscapes to Media Conscious and Paparazzi inspired press photographs in Yellow Press. The result is a deliberately conceived idiom typical of Newton. Contrasts and artistic effects are conspicuous: the meditative landscapes are balanced by the brash nudes, black/white silver gelatine prints are set off by the vibrant colours of the C-print photographs, and the technical finesse is juxtaposed with the sensationalist photographs of the trial of a famous Monaco family.
The exhibition is also an obvious opportunity to see the world-famous photographer through his own eyes, for Newton himself and his wife June handpicked the photographs on display. The images have never previously been on show in Denmark and were not made as commercial fashion photography; from their conception they were envisaged in an art context.
So to all my friends in Denmark (there are a few of you) I would highly advise taking a visit to this obviously fine Tribute to one of the greatest photographers ever.
