*DailyLitDeviations:iconDailyLitDeviations: reports, 13h 31m ago
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.

Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you :+fav: the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

"Take these dozen roses and stand in front of a mirror. You will then see the thirteen most beautiful things in the world."

Favorite Season?
I live near the beach, Spring and Autumn do not exist.

Favorite type of music?
None.

Favorite color?
Blue.

Do you have a favorite author?
I have a few that I prefer, but not one that I would call a "favorite". I love Micheal Grant's "Gone" series, J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter" series, and P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast's "The House of Night" series.

The Deviant

How did you discover deviantART?
Through a group of close friends. They are more of artists then writers, but they soon let me know that literature could also be posted here. I'm glad to have their help.

Why did you decide to join deviantART?
To observe many different types of art. In my own opinion, there is no such thing as an "ugly" piece of work. I draw and write because it's what I love to do. I don't do this to get praise, it's all for fun!

How did you come up with your username for deviantART?
Haha, it didn't take long. I wanted to use my first name in it so my friends could easily find me and vice versa. Why use 96? It just stuck.

Has deviantART influenced you and/or your work in any way?
It has influenced me personally to great extents. I've met some nice people, and they are completely inspiring. It has also motivated me to improve my work to the best of my ability and to do so out of wanting to and not for the sake of gaining popularity.

The Writer

What made you want to become a writer?
My love for writing.

Who or what was your inspiration for writing?
Friends and family played a large role in supporting me to continue writing, but what really got me started was school and books. Reading is my obsession. As well as writing. When I was in third or fourth grade (That was the time we all started writing fairy tales and short stories.) I loved writing about the topics we were given by our teacher for the stories we were to write. Once hitting middle school, disappointment arose upon me learning that those days were practically over. I simply decided to start writing out of choice.

How do you come up with your ideas?
They just come to me. Literally. I don't purposely sit awake at night trying to think of a new plot, the basic ideas usually just pop into my head. And once there, THEN I can spend my nights laying awake thinking of a plot line for that story.

What genre are you most comfortable writing?
Not one specific genre, but all the genres mixed into one big creation.

Do you tend to base your characters on real people or are they totally from your imagination?
Both. Some characteristics of my characters will come from actual people, but other aspects will appear out of thin air or my imagination.

What do you like to do when you're not writing?
Draw! Drawing is another passion of mine. Although I don't think my skills are all that great, I don't think it matters. Why quit doing something just because you're not fantastic at it? If you love doing it, then do it.

Have you ever had writer’s block? If so, what do you do about it?
Small bits of it. They are usually cured by a small break, a bowl of popcorn, and a good song.

Have you ever been published?
Nope. I wish to some day though. However, I would prefer to be a small time author and not become a big time author like J.K. Rowling or Stephanie Meyer. (Not a fan of Mrs. Meyer's writing by the way.)

What are your goals as a writer?
To improve my writing and vocabulary and love doing it all the while.

The Novelist

Can you tell us a bit about the story you are currently writing?
The three main ones are "Letters", "Nightmare", and he newest one, "Amy". Letters is based around the idea of global warming and the need for humans to take action in order to save their home. Nightmare and Amy are very similar and are based around the idea of sanity and insanity. "Nightmare" features a girl named Maggie who tries to avoid the nightmares and dreams surrounding her, while "Amy" features a girl named well, Amy. Amy chooses to embrace the insanity she is "blesses" with instead of pushing it to the side lines like Maggie.

How did you come up with the title for this story?
They just became the obvious choice after I began writing a little bit deeper into the story.

Can you tell us about your main character/characters?
Penelope ( "Letters" ) - An environmental freak. She lives in a world where fake trees and plants rule and clean air and water is a thing of the past. Penelope is a stubborn, independent girl and by no means is a "damsel in distress".

Maggie ( "Nightmare" ) - A girl who comes from a household that simply doesn't care about her well being. Maggie has dreams, more or less nightmares, that taunt her nightly. She attempts to avoid these night terrors, but is struggling to do so.
How did you develop your plot and characters?

Amy ( "Amy" ) - Amy has always been seen as "different". And not a good different, either. Teased at school, worried about at home, Amy shuts everyone out. Her only haven is her imagination.

Letters

Chapter one:
Morons
Humans are morons. There are so many things the human race doesn’t acknowledge. That’s because we’re idiots. Humans know when things are going wrong… they just don’t do anything about it. People are finally beginning to realize that we need to fix things, or get the past to stop so they can fix the future. If we don’t fix things soon, it’ll be too late.
Sorry, did I forget to introduce myself? My name is Penelope Willington. My friends call me Penny, but you’re not my friend, so don’t call me
“Parents?” I asked, anger shining in my eyes. “They’re dead.” I still missed them, and I wouldn’t let her think she could just throw words around like that. I wanted to remember them but that doesn’t mean I wanted to remember how they died. People didn’t seem to get that.  “Right, sorry.” She said it like she didn’t care. That’s because she didn’t. “Do I have to call your siblings?”  “No.”  “Then behave.”  “Not when Jessica gets to be a jerk and I can’t say anything back.”  “Can’t you two get along?& ***

I walked home alone, as always. It was only a fifteen minute walk away from school and I enjoyed the alone time to think. I lived in the bad part of town. Example: I’m 15 and my curfew is 9:00. You’ll get shot if you stay out any later. I walked past the houses with the boarded up windows and doors, past the yards that had signs that said ‘Beware of Dog’ and meant it, and best of all, I walked past yet another dark alley that had creeps and killers lurking inside. I always walked by quickly when I was near these places.   I walked up to the front door of the orphanage and unlocked the door
Chapter Three:  The Movie

Saturday came quickly. It was already 8:00 and Maverick and I were at the theater. Most of the movies these days were about the environment. They were either about how humans were morons, still are, and how we would have a green planet it we took care of Earth a bit more. I favored those ones. The others were about how everything was a natural cause and the perfect little humans played no role in it what so ever. I hated those ones.
When the movie finally came on, I began to wonder what this movie's plot would be. I was furious when I found out.   Of course, I di
