These facts are important not only when you are looking for a job, but in any situation when you wish to showcase your work. I decided to share a few guidelines that might help you give the best of yourself and help you be a better profesional.

TWENTY: The Photographer's Issue

`strangledbyart:iconstrangledbyart: reports, December 31, 2003
TWENTY is a deviantzine that showcases 20 spectacular artists from the furthest reaches of deviantART in an effort to get them the exposure they deserve. TWENTY usually showcases the full spectrum of the art experience, however, this issue will be a bit different in format. Before all of you ask, "Well what about this kind of art, or this kind?", let me assure you that there will be more features and everyone will get their day in the sun.

With the release of the new Premium Content System (PCS), TWENTY will be going through some changes. I feel these changes will be better for the artists and also the writers of TWENTY. An outline of these changes are as follows.

:bulletgreen: I never did like the 5000 page-view limit and I broke it as often as I could get away with. On a community of this size what good is it if 5000 people out of hundreds of thousands have seen your work? Even if it was only 100,000 people on the site, and each view was unique (which it's not), that would mean only half a percent of the population was looking at your work, and I find that to be preposterous.

This is not the only reason for killing the 5000 view limit. No, I have many more.

1. Art is without limits so it should not have limits put on it.

2. Page-views do not equate to actual views on artwork, meaning someone could have 25,000 page-views and still only get an average of maybe 25 people who actually look at their artwork, even less who comment. This is unacceptable!

3. deviantART is quickly approaching its 4th year, so someone with 10,000 page-views who was here from the beginning would technically be more deserving than someone who has been here for less than a year with 2500 page-views, let alone 5000.

4. Page-view limits are evil!

Alright so the last reason may not be valid but as far as numbers go, a page-view limit hurts more artists than it helps. Which I hope I illustrated well enough.

:bulletgreen: TWENTY will be coming out on a monthly basis, on the first of every month. I never did like the every other week thing either, even if you were prepared and working on it the whole time, which almost never happens because let's face it, people have other things to do sometimes, two weeks is not enough time to adequately prepare an issue of TWENTY. DeviantART has grown by leaps and bounds and we all know the ills of what that has caused. Finding quality artwork buried under heaps of sketches and webcam shots and such is a much harder task than it was even a few months ago, and it was hard then. By putting it out monthly it will give the staff adequate time to prepare the highest quality issue they can, and it will give good, serious artists a better chance to be found under the heaps of sketches and webcam shots.

:bulletgreen: TWENTY will have more writers and editors. When I used to write TWENTY exclusively I had no job, no wife, and nothing better to do. Now I don't have much time to add in TWENTY with a wife and kid, a job, my photography, and my personal life. So my role in TWENTY after this issue will be to help out the other staff members I will be bringing on and overseeing the whole operation to make sure justice is being done to both artists and their work.

There may be more changes in the future for TWENTY as necessary, but I won't spend too much time on all of that next time as I feel it detracts from the issue. Without delaying the issue further, welcome to TWENTY: The Photographers Issue.

:bulletgreen::pointr:*enstillfear [View Gallery]is our first deviant this issue hails from Vancouver, Washington and has the distinctive title of Photography Admin for ~Portland, a collective of deviants from Portland, Oregon. His photography ranges from spectacular Portland skyline shots, to some great macros including some experimental macros involving day lilies, darkness, a blue LED light, and a flashlight.

:bulletgreen::pointr:~dmack [View Gallery] is our next featured deviant, and he hails from Be'er Sheva, Israel. I was at first drawn in by the sunset shot below and found a surprising array of earth-toned shots in his gallery. He has a great eye for composition and interesting subjects to shoot.

:bulletgreen::pointr:*pecchio [View Gallery] hails from Florence, Italy. He has an impressive collection of portrait, cityscape, and nature photography. The range of color in his pictures is so amazing that even his black and white photography oozes color.

:bulletgreen::pointr:*roy204 [View Gallery] comes next on the list and for good reason. This Montpellier, France resident has a gallery full of amazing photography. His eye for composition and lighting really make his gallery stand out. Seeing as how one of his recent pictures has turned up in the daily top favorites it looks as if he may not be unknown for long.

:bulletgreen::pointr:~driids [View Gallery] is a very talented Canadian eh? In all seriousness though he has some really relaxing nature shots, a great eye for composition, and a unique view on the world.

:bulletgreen::pointr:~glowingtree [View Gallery], I would have to say, is a well rounded artist. Aside from doing photography she does art that fits in just about every category we have a name for here on DA. It was the sunset photographs that drew me in though, such an amazing mix of colors got captured, it was really awe inspiring.

:bulletgreen::pointr:*uk13 [View Gallery] is a very talented photographer from Seattle, Washington, my neighbor to the north. He even has some photographs that have gotten some really good notice, even a daily top favorite or two. So why hasn't the population caught on to his work? Who knows? It was actually one of his daily top favorite images that made me want to go see the rest of his gallery, and I found that he shoots with the same camera I do. I always find it interesting how differently two people can capture the world even when using the same hardware. Come see how beautiful the northwestern United States, and Seattle is through *uk13's eyes and lens.

:bulletgreen::pointr:~garrit [View Gallery] is a finely superb German photographer with another very unique view on the world through his lens. His ability to capture surreal scenes on film is second to none. Even though he has seen some success on DA with his work I feel he hasn't been given his due. Come get lost in his dream-like images.

:bulletgreen::pointr:*welder [View Gallery] has had a taste of success here during his short stay on DA. However with the amazing quality of his photography I still think he is grossly underrated. If you like sunsets, nature, and architecture you're really missing out if you haven't seen his work.

:bulletgreen::pointr:~cemosoft [View Gallery] is, in my opinion, one of the hidden gems of deviantART. He has so many good, expressive photos in his gallery, that aside from one daily top favorite that I saw, he hasn't gotten much notice.

:bulletgreen::pointr:*seasick [View Gallery] has a talent for seeing art in every day household objects. A lock and key, a pop can, even more obscure things like engine blocks are turned from ordinary to extraordinary. Though his photography is not limited to just these things. So come check out what a fork can do when seen with the right eye.

:bulletgreen::pointr:~rviper [View Gallery] is another nature photographer with a great eye for angles found in the natural realm of this earth. He has some splendid looking terragen works as well as other various 3D work.

:bulletgreen::pointr:~Shooglenifty [View Gallery] is another deviant from the northwest US, hailing for Seatlle Washington. He has a brilliant, and colorful gallery full of placid nature shots and excellent macro shots.

:bulletgreen::pointr:*cybrghst [View Gallery] may not be the most unknown of deviants but I do feel that his photography is worth mention to every deviant across the globe. I had a hard time choosing which ones to feature. He also has some brilliant design work.

:bulletgreen::pointr:*yenom [View Gallery] by rights really isn't obscurely unknown either, but like *cybrghst I feel that his work needs to be shown to the masses so that all may see how brilliant his photography is.

:bulletgreen::pointr:~velvet [View Gallery] doesn't have the largest gallery you've ever seen but you can definitely see the improvement and potential of this deviant since his start here on DA.

:bulletgreen::pointr:*avotius [View Gallery] used to be a fellow resident of Olympia, Washington but has since moved to China. His shots of the northwest really show off the beauty of this wonderful area that captures your heart, even if it does rain a lot. I for one look forward to seeing his images of china and how culturally rich and beautiful it is.

:bulletgreen::pointr:~smmaniam [View Gallery] is another deviant from china and he will wow you with some very striking images from the area there. He can only get better too so keep an eye on him.

:bulletgreen::pointr:~AhWai [View Gallery] will leave you wondering how a camera can capture such surreal colors and images with his stellar photography.

:bulletgreen::pointr:~adsy [View Gallery] is new around here and I see great, great things for him. His architecture and nature shots really draw the eye with their great composition and color. Welcome this deviant to the community and definitely keep an eye on him.

and one more...

:bulletgreen::pointr:*landfill [View Gallery] has been around for over a year and is still relatively unknown. Perhaps the poster child for what twenty is all about, his photography is some of the most impressive I've seen here during my near 2 years on DA and I'm shocked that everyone hasn't seemed to find him.
