The Beauty of Life: William Morris and the Art of Design, featuring 250 pieces of Morris' art, is an exhibit currently on display at The Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens, San Marino, CA, through April 4, 2004.
Morris was a 19th Century artist who was born in England. His artistic achievements are known world-wide, spanning a wide variety of art forms, that include interior design and creating wallpaper patterns, book printing, poetry, weaving tapestries and textiles, calligraphy, embroidery, and stained-glass design and production. He was especially interested with the Medieval period, and much of his art reflects that.
Morris' influence can still be seen today, as his creative designs are still being used and reproduced, throughout the world in home interior design, industrial design, and in architectural forms.
