We at deviantART wish to formally announce that the usage of official/commercial Anime and Manga images in Wallpapers is against deviantART policy. This includes - but is not limited to - screen captures from shows, scans from mangas, artbooks, magazines, boxart, and pencil boards. Basically, any anime images found on the internet.

Despite the category title this goes for the Wallpaper->Anime section as well. Fanart is allowed in wallpaper, even copies of official/commercial art you yourself have drawn. But the direct use of commercial art, as in anything else on deviantART, is prohibited.

We now realize the category title of Wallpaper>Anime is grossly misleading and people not versed in our policy could easily mistake it as condoning this sort of work. We are hereby giving a one-week’s notice. We are asking people to take this week to move their wallpapers that feature artwork drawn by them to IndyArt->Anime for the time being, for the Wallpaper>Anime section is staked for eradication. We apologize for any inconveniences but we have found the section to be too ripe with violations to try and handle manually anymore.

But now some of you may be crying out: “What do we do!?” “Where will our wallpapers go!?”. Search the net! There are plenty of fine sites, including AnimeWallpapers.com , that welcome the submissions of Anime Wallpapers that feature official and commercial images. deviantART only permits original art or art reused by explicit permission only.
