it's not that much different then the previous ones...I've had oC 3 PE since it first came out late last year...seems the same for me just a few new features that I figured would have been on an art program anyways.

it gives me a headache, oC can have the same look and effect as painter, but it's less confussing and after the 30 day trial period of open canvas you still get to use the program. you just can't save.

I use both painter, photoshop, and Open Canvas. I like OC because it doesn't take 6 days to load the program and definately isn't the memory hog both Painter and PS can be. Just like with traditional media, I like having a few options. Sometimes Canvas is better for what I need. Sometimes I like PS's ability to rotate/size dynamically without having to guess percentages, and sometimes I prefer painter for it's great emulation of various trad. mediums. It all depends on what you want to do. My favourite feature of OC is the ability to create and view event files that plays back what you or what someone else did to draw and paint their ending image, which helps greatly for those of us who learn best by seeing how an image was put together right in front of you.
