lolly:iconlolly: reports, August 6
This year, the Second Annual recipient of the illustrious Bolt Award is someone who, like its namesake has somehow magically been a part of deviantART since before there even was a deviantART. Pretty fantastic trick to pull off wouldn't you say? This person is someone some of you may be familiar with in recent months, promoting devWear, running the Holiday Card Project, campaigning to keep her favorite TV shows on the air and many other things. And the award goes to...

Napalm Navigation Hits Skins and Themes!

`nieman:iconnieman: reports, February 9, 2004
With the biggest merger since the Daimler-Chrysler event, deviantART's Application Skins and Themes Gallery have upset the DOW this evening by teaming up to form the single, super Gallery: Skins & Themes!

That's right. We now have changed our graphically manipulative categories stock symbol to S&T, so to speak, and are looking forward to a new era, a new seaon, and bright beginning using Napalm's navigation system to more logically organize our system.

Before now, when you clicked on the Application Skins Gallery it showed the list of the massive amount of applications we provide skin sections for. Now we have merged the slightly smaller Themes Gallery with it, and recategorized it with an awesome family of tiers, making browsing much more efficient, organized, and simpler.

Now, when you open the Skins & Themes Gallery you will find a list of categories:

:bulletblue: Application Launchers :bulletblue:
:bulletblue: Audio Utilities :bulletblue:
:bulletblue: Calculators :bulletblue:
:bulletblue: Calendars :bulletblue:
:bulletblue: Clocks :bulletblue:
:bulletblue: Email :bulletblue:
:bulletblue: File Sharing :bulletblue:
:bulletblue: Games :bulletblue:
:bulletblue: Graphics Utilities :bulletblue:
:bulletblue: Instant Messengers :bulletblue:
:bulletblue: Internet Utilities :bulletblue:
:bulletblue: Media Players:bulletblue:
:bulletblue: News :bulletblue:
:bulletblue: Notes & Notepads :bulletblue:
:bulletblue: Personal Organizers :bulletblue:
:bulletblue: Shell Themes :bulletblue:
:bulletblue: System Monitoring :bulletblue:
:bulletblue: Virtual Desktop Managers :bulletblue:
:bulletblue: Web Browsers :bulletblue:
:bulletblue: Windows Utilities :bulletblue:

So now, when looking for, say, Winamp Modern skins, you will go through Skins & Themes :pointr: Media Players :pointr: Winamp :pointr: Winamp Modern. I assume you agree it's quite logical.

The layout is basic, self-explanatory, and so much more organized than the insanely long alphabetized list that we had before.

Please do note, however, that the recently created Modules & Plugins Gallery has absorbed some of the formerly placed Application Skins categories. If you can't find some of your previously Applications Skins, or Themes, based sections, try taking a look in that Gallery, if applicable.

I remain in charge of the Skins & Themes Gallery as the sole Gallery Director, so any questions can be directed towards this news article, which I will reply to as soon as I can, or if you prefer, you can drop me a note, though I don't expect these changes to be too dramatic or complicating for you fine deviants.

I did most of it Thursday night, but I was out of town for the weekend, so it sat. I'm putting the finishing touches on the changes here tomorrow morning before I move onto other galleries.
