All day I have been working with $dygel to get the 3.14 million Skins and Themes sections under control. I compiled a list sections that pertained to software that is dead, undistributed, and no longer has any customer or user interest. These sections were promptly locked by $dygel so that the categories no longer showed up on regular navigation, or the submission guide, but the deviations will still show up in a users personal gallery.
A second important task tackled today was the forum navigation system. There's not really a change in navigation, it's just that we now have one massive forum for the conglomeration of all Skins and Themes topics with a few seperate forums for Winamp, Trillian, and other larger more popular topic applications, which can still be found by clicking on their respective section.
Last, and most important to this news article is an addition to the policy for submitting Skins and Themes.
You probably remember the first major action I took as a Gallery Administrator a while ago; the massive deletion of all picture skins in the Winamp sections. Well now we're doing that everywhere in the Gallery.
You may not use a skin generating program to make your skin for you. If a skin is suspected of being a generated skin, in that it has the same default template used by skin generators, image overlapping, default images applied to parts of the skin, or any combination of the above; it will be deleted.
We do not allow, what we call, picture skins, either. A picture skin is a skin that has one picture or image spanning a large section of the skin, drawing attention to the image, rather than the program, or skin itself. Skinning is an art that takes a program and redecorates it, not an art that just throws a sheet over it, so to speak, no matter how pretty you think the sheet is.
Any skins falling under the previous two paragraphs of criteria will be deleted without notice. If you don't back up your files, and only have them on deviantART, then that is your problem. We are not responsible for the common sense one needs to have to back up their important items.

I'm doing a series of skins of a band by request, and have permission from the band to use the pictures. However, even though I have permission, they are still image-skins and therefore not to be posted here, correct?
For reference, I have a shot of one of the skins in progress here. (If this too constitutes a policy violation, please tell me and I'll remove it.)
