10 ways to Express Art – Part I

*ninaste:iconninaste: reports, 21h 43m ago
10 Ways to Express Art is a project started by *ninaste =Derzorvadur and *ki-liana in order to promote good work of 5 specific categories in Deviant, these being Traditional, Digital art (Photomanipulation), Digital Painting (Vectors), Literature, and Photography. this is ONLY for the sake of art, no favoritism or popularity has anything to do with this, only REAL good art will enter in these articles, and the art exposed in here is what we personally consider the best of the best.

You might even be one hell of a profesional, but if you don't SHOW it and PROVE it, how will everyone know? These facts are important not only when you are looking for a job, but in any situation when you wish to showcase your work. I decided to share a few guidelines that might help you give the best of yourself and help you be a better profesional.

Roy Lichtenstein @ Hayward Gallery Feb 26 - May 16

`londonxpress:iconlondonxpress: reports, February 26, 2004
Roy's use of bright colours and flat surfaces led to a distinctive painting style. Often he incorporated humour and irony into his work in an effort to shed light on the materialistic art scene in New York. One of his most distinctive elements was the use of 'Benday Dots' that were used to replicate colour during the mechanical printing process - a revolutionary innovation.

"Lichtenstein 's style and his subjects are instantly recognizable, and immediate in their impact. From the 60s on he extended the range of his imagery to include still life, figure studies, landscapes and interiors , examining colour, pattern and form, spatial illusions and borders of abstraction, the styles and iconic images of modern art (including his own) with increasing complexity and an ever-present ironic humour. " (excerpt from Hayward Gallery - [link])

Roy Lichtenstein's show will run from February 26th to May 16th of this year.

I love Roy's work. So simple and definitely one of the most prominent of all the Pop Art creators, he's got some interesting work for all to see. I love his bright colors and wonderful Benday Dots.

The site is actually quite nice too, especially if you go to the Lichtenstein page at the Hayward Gallery site. Check out the cheese head portrait under "Talks & Events."

going to london tomorrow to have another look at the tate modern and saatchi galleries. might as well have a look at this, seeing as it's nearby. shame it's £6 to enter (for us students :p , £9 for the rest of you although you can save a quid if you order online;) but then again so is the saatchi gallery.
having studied roy lichtensteins works (and spending about five hours sticking coloured dots to paper; insanity at it's best...) it would be brilliant seeing his full-sized work. he took comic strip frmaes, and projected them onto massive canvasses. i've only studied his work from tiny images in books and on the internet, seeing the vastness of these images would be brilliant. hopefully i can have a look...

I was fortunate enough to catch Lichtenstein's work in the Frankfurt Gallery a few years back, and I must say it was breathtaking.
Great news.
