Forty years ago on February 28th, in 1964, the Beatles made themselves known to America. This anniversary is being celebrated all over the nation: Beatlemania exhibition in Seattle, documentaries such as "The Beatles, Year One" and a touring exhibition of John Lennon's artwork.
John's primary medium was line drawings in pen, pencil, or sumi ink. The limited edition prints and artwork in this display consists of lithographs, serigraphs, and etchings hand-reproduced from his original works. The tour also consists of rare and controversial pieces that were confiscated in raids during the '70's. Manuscripts from solo and Beatles' era are also included in this exhibit.
The Pacific Edge gallery has been cooperating and working with the Lennon estate since 1988 to tour John Lennon's art throughout North America.
Not much can be deciphered through the
The Pacific Edge Gallery's website. A list of the cities disclosed on The Pacific Edge gallery website is as follows:
Kansas City
Phoenix
Portland
Los Angeles
Las Vegas
San Diego
Toronto
Montreal
Check local newspapers and event calendars of museums and art galleries to check for exhibition dates. The lack of publicity is making it difficult to track down specifics on art tour dates and exhibition times.
The exhibit's proceeds will go to their charity,
Adopt a Classroom.
Thanks to a recent ad in
The Pitch, the time and location is known for Kansas City. The exhibit will be open and free for all attendees, March 19-21st at
Crown Center.
This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity not only to see this art in exhibition and touring, but to own a piece of his artwork from this revolutionary artist and musician.
