Photo-Manipulation Love!

=ClockworkDesigns:iconClockworkDesigns: reports, 1d 21h ago
These are photo-manipulations that have been chosen based on the amount of creativity put into them or the type of techniques used to create such eye candy. Some of these people are fairly unknown and I wanted to give them an opportunity to be seen by the public. Please show the artists your support! :D

Proper Preview Image Use

`mp3chuck:iconmp3chuck: reports, May 3, 2004
Recently there's been a lot of misuse of preview images of user submissions. Please keep in mind that the preview image should depict the content of the submission: either a crop of the image, or simply a resized version of the full-sized image. Preview images that don't reflect the content (i.e. "Click for Full View!" ) of the submission may end up removed.

The only items that require a preview image are:

:bulletred: Non-image files (i.e. .zip, .rar, etc...)
:bulletred: GIF files (animated or static) over 100x100

All other submissions have thumbnails automatically generated, so there is no need to submit a preview image.

Well I think this is ok, but just to make sure, what if there is a cropped section of an image with a text "click for full view" on it? Is that ok? Because it still reflects the actual image itself, it is just indicating that you click on the preview to see the full version.

Cheers
Callan

The moment you start believing you are better than anyone else you are no longer yourself.
`mp3chuck:iconmp3chuck: May 4, 2004, 5:28:01 AM
Yes, that's fine. I was referring to plain-text "previews." :)

Indeed, indeed -- :devblaceice: and I also have wankered over this issue as well.

:pointr: http://news.deviantart.com/article/13684 /

I really do have to issue SVs for something as silly as inappropriate preview images but, heh, you know .. it's rather annoying and, at the same time, misleading others.

Good write-up.

Fair point. I usually ignore images like that anyway, as they often feature crappy little MS Paint doodles that probably don't do the final piece any justice, unless that is a sketchy doodle too...

I have a question on the topic. I have submitted a .jpeg, and the auto sizer made the preview look... well , bad (my subjects' red hair seems blotted all over the background). I tried to go back to submit an premade thumbnail of my jpeg but was not given the option, is there something else I can do?
thanks.
