Personas: Lightweight themeing for Firefox!

=edmunn:iconedmunn: reports, July 15
Personas are lightweight, easy to install and easy to change “skins” for your Firefox web browser.

Personas builds upon the ideas that:
Themes today are too hard to find, install and use

Graphic designers should be able to style the browser without having to code

Browsers can be more than just desktop software, they can include online components

People just want their computer to be a little more fun and personal

Labs has just begun exploring the possible benefits of an online component to deliver a better browser experience. There much to explore in this regard; Personas is a simple example. Persona selector is dynamically loaded and populated from a JSON feed and all designs are loaded via URLs to remote resources. All changes to the browser chrome are applied instantly, with no need to restart.

It's a very good system, and I recomend trying it out to get the most from Firefox!

Seems like a pre-release of Redhat's Linux operating system. Don't really see how its unique though from any other Redhat distro. Sounds like it might be just a beta. Anyone know more?

for :above:, these are distributions of the linux operating system, which is an open-source alternative to the commercial os's like windows or osx.

redhat stopped supported their free version, and now they have split into fedora and redhat enterprise. fedora is (kind of) the new free version of redhat, and is also updated more frequently. in other words, this is like the next version of redhat, kind of like redhat 10 or something. i just installed fedora core 1, but i guess i'll check out core 2 when i get around to it. so far, core 1 is very cool, and it supported my hardware better then rh9. also, the new bluecurve theme looks quite nice :D, much better than the old one, imo.

i've used fedora core 1, but it was still problemactic for me, plus i couldn't get the lack of mp3 support fixed (yes i know install the patch - still didn't work)

as pretty as bluecurve is, i went back over to mandrake, and today i'm gonna load up the 4 cd offical release....

but it's nice to see that core 2 is done finally....i may give it a run later on....

Is it me being stupid or Core 2 is still under beta development ? I checked their website and they don't say the final flavor of core 2 has been released. This news is misleading.

For anyone's information, I run Core 1 final on our server at work, it runs smooth and quite well. No big changes from RH7.3 considering the job it does (no gui, smtp, proxy).

ehmm.. this runs on PC and free of charge download right? :o
