When I've been approached in the past about literature thumbnails, we've never had a clear or concise policy about who can use what and when. This has changed.
This is the current standing policy
1.
You only use thumbnails you obtained permission for, or you created.
2.
All literature thumbnails containing thumbs that are not your original works, are to be changed OR permission is given and stated in the description.
I have thumbnails that are in violation of this change - will you ban me?
No, I understand since this is a change from practices loosely accepted before - it would be unfair to kick everyone in the crotch over it.
What will happen: Change your thumbnails as soon as possible. If you don't care and leave the thumbnails alone -- they will be given a copyright violation and removed.
Repeat offenders will deal with the Policy Administration
I see a deviation with thumbnails violating this new policy, what do I do?
Do not tell the person to change their thumbnail.
1. Report the violation
2. Select "Other"
3. Leave a URL of the
original image uploaded without permission. (This is necessary)
4. Enter any other info you believe useful.
Literature administration will handle the procedure from there.
Thanks for your help, I apologize for any inconvenience.
UPDATE ON WHY YOU REPORT
Look kiddies, it's very simple. Someone who receives a comment such as, "Your deviation contains a thumbnail in violation of DA policy! Change it!" Is going to look at you and say, "So who the hell are you?" If you want to play cowboy move to Texas, using the report button is a tool. It makes both your life easy, and the administration's.
It's our job to handle this, not yours. If you want to help, use the report tool. If you want to play vigilante, I won't be sympathetic when you get shot with your own revolver.

I've been unsure of what's okay and what's not for a long time, now I'm glad that I know how things stand for sure. Thanks!

I don't get that. Supposing that the deviant didn't violate the policy intentionally, isn't it better to just tell him what he/she did wrong and give him/her the chance to do better?
If someone is parking his car on my ground I wouldn't just call the police and have it removed but first try to talk to that person hoping the he/she realizes what was wrong and changes his/her behaviour.
It's imho not always necessary to report everything to the authorities immediately...

By reporting, it's ensured that everything is handled on our end officially without any confusion.

Ive seen quite a few people get on the dailoy favorites because they used someone elses art as a thumbnail and no one seems to relize it wasnt art but literature..and they never even had permission to use the art either.
that really got annoying.

I have a series of literature pieces that I have used the same screenshot preview for all of them. I have credited the creator of the picture in the first two, but not in the others. Should the credits be put in every time, or is it alright to leave it with just the first two?
Thanks for the heads up by the way.
