The 2008 Bolt Award

lolly:iconlolly: reports, August 6
This year, the Second Annual recipient of the illustrious Bolt Award is someone who, like its namesake has somehow magically been a part of deviantART since before there even was a deviantART. Pretty fantastic trick to pull off wouldn't you say? This person is someone some of you may be familiar with in recent months, promoting devWear, running the Holiday Card Project, campaigning to keep her favorite TV shows on the air and many other things. And the award goes to...

No more ads on deviantART!

$spyed:iconspyed: reports, October 26, 2004
Ok there are still ads on deviantART. But every day there are less! As non-subscribers have already noted, advertising on deviantART has just changed in a big way. NOW if you’re a subscriber, anyone visiting your user page, your art or your journal sees no ads along with you! Even if they aren’t subscribers! Even if they aren’t logged in!

:bulletgreen: :pointr: What does that mean?

Ok, I know this may be hard to grasp because it’s a pretty big change, but; if you are a subscriber, all of your pages including detail-view and full-view browsing of your deviations, your journal, your user page, etc. will have NO ADVERTISING even for users who are NOT subscribers.

So now you can tell your friends, your clients, your MOM! To go check out your deviantART without the annoying distraction of advertising taking away from your devious creations!

:bulletgreen: :pointr: What do you mean no more ads on deviantART?

Every day more and more people are subscribing to deviantART, which means more and more entire galleries of art are becoming completely AD-FREE! Just today 905,218 deviations and 138,356 scraps have broken FREE from the chains of advertising.

Make your deviantART pages AD-FREE; Subscribe to deviantART and remove advertising on all your deviantART pages for everyone! Plus of course all the other great features like BIG THUMBNAILS, full-featured deviantWATCH …

:bulletred: :bulletgreen: :bulletred:

Sorry I have to stop right there. I’m about to PUKE :puke: This is starting to sound like a friggin’ infomercial. By the way it’s kind of nice that the term “friggin” is one I can get away with.

So yah, the point of this hot topic is to inform everyone of the advertising changes. And to get you to subscribe. Because um, we can make things better around here if you do subscribe. So do that. If you can. If you can’t, that’s understandable. There will be a growing number of ad-free pages for non-subscribers as well. So everyone wins with this one.

And I’d just like to say that there is not a team in the world more proud of the project they have the privilege of working on, than the team behind deviantART. I don’t think any of us ever understood the full implications of what it meant to accomplish being in the middle of the most creative place on earth.

It’s hard not to mention that at every opportunity. We think it every day.
