^lovetodeviate:iconlovetodeviate: reports, August 30
An interview with ex-GD, writer, editor, fascinating person: `GeneratingHype. Here are some tidbits from the interview (which I recommend reading in full):

"Letters presuppose a sort of authenticity, and I truly believe that a story—no matter the form—needs to be authentic and believable.

"Sometimes I wish I had stories such as "I wrote my first published poem at three and a half!" or "I started writing stories at two!", but writing never came easy for me and is still not very easy for me.

The Use of Adverbs in Fiction Writing

=DarcKnyt:iconDarcKnyt: reports, August 29
Adverbs are the endangered species of the adult fiction world. They're frowned on like putting a Baby Ruth bar in a punch bowl at a wedding reception -- not a good idea. They're also indicative of weak writing ... but why? This article covers why adverbs are evil and what you can do to avoid using them.

Announcement of Lit-Source

~Lit-Source:iconLit-Source: reports, November 28, 2004
Our goal is to help new literature members by providing some helpful information on important sources available on DA.

Many times new (or even veteran!) DA members often struggle with the literary features on DA. When you were new, how many of you had difficulty understanding the categories to submit your work under? When you wrote your first poem, how could you get other people to read your work? If you wanted to learn and make it all better, was there any place you could turn for help?

We aim to help all that. By showing a short overview to the struture and general literary features on DA, you can look over the various categories with the definitions of each and have links provided to quickly show you examples of work existing on DA.

With a listing of the DA writing Groups and Clubs, you can find yourself a friendly group of other literary members that just might even specialize in the style you like. This list will also let you find the Groups that specialize in giving you thoughtful and sincere critiques, or maybe match you with someone more experienced who can adopt you? Even veterans may find this listing useful, showing them a quick overview to the Groups that are sponsoring contests.

While pointing out some of the better tips and helpful articles, even experienced writers will hopefully appreciate covering the most common issues new writers face.

So come check us out, and send us other new members to help them on thier way.

good luck. I know it is a lot of work, but if you can do it, I know there will be many a happy writer because of it. Be well and take care :O

aye good luck indeed. Contemplicity welcomes you in this venture. We know very well the difficult task that lies ahead, but even if one writer is helped, then you've done what you came to do. Take care and be well.

Not many people are successful their first time at anything. :)

There are pointers to the better writing articles on DA and you can look over the Groups and Clubs listing to see if one interests you. Some of the Groups have workshops, and most provide critiques, which is indicated under each Group listed.

If you still dont see what you are looking for please note us, as we are still trying to figure out what is helpful.
