Q What do you want to say or convey with your photography?
As you know I am doing travel, street, nature, portrait and other genre photography
poeple say that i am still looking for my style. But I can`t agree with that. I don`t want to orientate to one style or genre of photography. I want to take everything you know
I want to try everything
concerts, studio, macro
I love making experiments.
But there is something that I want to express with my photos. I am trying to present motives on a different, new, original way. I want to take motives that are hidden to majority. Motives that only I can see
.so called pearls of our planet and life. And when I capture something like that I am a very happy person. And also in general I am trying to present my motives in a positive, optimistic way
. Of course it is
impossible to shoot only such shots
but that is my mainly orientation.
Q You are fairly young, 17, how do you think your age works to your advantage or disadvantage in photography?
You see youthfulness is always an advantage. Poeple put more attention on me just because of that. There are so many who are surprised by my age. When I was 16 I wrote down few goals that i want to do in photography until I get to 18: to have 2 single exhibitions, start working with magazines and to become as quality photographer as possible. I am 17 now and I fulfilled all those goals. My friend in Slovenia (excellent person and photographer) asked me what will I do when I become 25 or 30?! Will I work for Playboy or National Geographic. I really don't know I replied
I have no clue!!
Being so young also enables me to take things which older people take more difficult. Children for example. I love taking (pictures of) kids
but I would love to take more women as well. Well being 17 makes that more difficult

Q Can you mention any inspirational artists that have influenced you or other things, like music, that affect your art?
There are not many artists that influence on my photos directly
but, lately, I read many books and visited many exhibitions so, for example, Elliott Erwitt influenced on me a lot. Once I saw his pictures I got immediately so much inspiration and ideas. And I took few good shots
just under his influence.
I found out that reading and looking works from great artists is very very important. They can be a great source for your ideas, motivation, inspiration and knowledge. As regards music
I think that U2 influence on me with their messages in lyrics a little and great photos on covers (Anton Corbijn).
Q How has deviantART affected you and your art?
Hmmm I have been more active on DA for about half a year now or a bit more
What I got and get from DA is motivation for making better shots.
Since I got here I wanted to become one of the better photographer and that motivated me to take better and better photos
It is so good to come home from a school and read some positive comments and I also enjoy following few great young artists
But I can`t say that DA affected my photos
. Do you think I praise myself? No it is true
DA has affected on my photos really really a little. All the knowledge I got is from books, courses, lectures, workshops, from friends photographers, from local photo club, from exhibitions and with hard hard work. So I can`t remember that I learnt anything here. I also don't spend so much time that DA could affect on my style
hmm I don't know
Maybe some people will not understand that. But that is the truth.
Q You have photographed nature quite a lot, what does nature mean to you?
I live next to the woods-50 meters away and there is 30 meters away a stream(brook) and 100 meters away fields and 1 km away mountains
welcome to Slovenia hehe J! We have a garden with apple trees, pear trees, grapes, raspberry bushes
.Yes I love nature. Great source for health and relaxing
I and my mates were playing in the woods a lot when we were children
and i love mushrooming
. Well there is a lot of nature in my life.
I am so lucky to live on the country side. But Slovenia is so small and distances are very short that I have only 50 minutes of driving to Ljubljana-the capital of Slovenia. Well I love nature
. and I take a lot of care for it.. I hate people who don`t respect it. We are dependent from it and there are so many who don't understand that. That is so sad
Q What are your strengths and weaknesses in photography?
Strengths: composition, technical skills, light, motives, ideas; I can say that I have a good eye for moments, details.
Weaknesses: stories, messages, studio lights, expression and emotions.
One of my motto is that photography is a never ending story. So you learn all the time, all your life! Half a year back I felt like I know everything and there is nothing more I can learn but after one very good
workshop I felt so wrecked
and that is how is it in photography. Once you think there is nothing more to learn there will always be something
. Your photos will always need something more
. There is always something not ok and something missing on a photograph. And that drives me forward
educating all the time
And I find that as a charm as a mystery of photography. In fact I love that!
Q Besides photography, what else do you do in your life, what else do you enjoy?
I travel a lot, I love exploring new places and meetings new friends, people
I love the whole feeling of traveling and everything from packing to flying, driving
I also do many sports; snowboarding, jogging, cycling, hiking to the mountains
And I read a lot
.from Michael Chricton to Adam Douglas (SF, detective, horrors, criminals and also business books and of course
photograpy books!)
What else? I love meeting with friends
going to parties
. I love watching movies
. good music
Q Can you pick a favorite photo of yours and tell us why it is so meaningful to you?
The picture was taken in Croatia in a town called Porec. We (I and friends) were returning from the cathedral and going to the parking place where we left our car. We decided to go to the next city
.so I
passed by this car and noticed that little girl. She and her father were waiting for someone I guess. She was playing and doing all kinds of expressions
it was strange
I mean my brother (8 years old) is quite
peaceful but she was so alive
I took 3 shots only! And those were quick ones
automatic settings
snap shots
she was moving around very fast and i prayed that it is not gonna be blury
2 minutes later I sit in the car and I am checking the results.
When I found out what I captured I shouted I jumped
hehe
I was so happy and I could not believe what I got! It was one of the best moments I had in my photography besides winning the contests and competitons. It is on of those shots that I see in National Geographic
. But that is just me and my dreams.
Q Where do you hope to be in 10 years photography wise and in general?
I have one more year to decide and think about my next step- university. Will I become a professional or not
will I live from it or not
I only know this is a difficult and hard job and at least in Slovenia it doesn't give you a lot of profit. But if i go into it I see my self in National Geographic
I also want to take pictures of famous poeple(my very big wish is to have a photo session with U2)
well in 10 years I want to make a name
reputation
. I want to make a picture that will change something
. Even if something small.
