lolly:iconlolly: reports, August 6
This year, the Second Annual recipient of the illustrious Bolt Award is someone who, like its namesake has somehow magically been a part of deviantART since before there even was a deviantART. Pretty fantastic trick to pull off wouldn't you say? This person is someone some of you may be familiar with in recent months, promoting devWear, running the Holiday Card Project, campaigning to keep her favorite TV shows on the air and many other things. And the award goes to...

The Two Hundred Photographs Sent To The NYCTA

°dygel:icondygel: reports, January 25, 2005
Below are the 200 photographs from the Global Subway Photography Contest that were printed and physically mailed to the New York City Transit Authority. This project was done to serve the transit authority with a poignant reminder of how important subway photography is to so many photographers, and that their proposed ban on photography would serve only to frustrate those photographers.

You will certainly notice that most of these are architectural. That is a result of two factors. First, I wanted to present a strength of architectural photographs so that our message would not be misinterpreted as photographers insisting on the right to invade people's privacy. I tried to restrict the picks to those photos where any people in the frame were unidentifiable. Secondly, as a matter of personal tastes, I tend to have a much better eye for structural aesthetics than I do for the human element in photography. My apologies if these factors have steered these choices in a direction you might not have chosen yourself.

So, if your work is contained herein, you can be proud that your art has contributed to a powerful group statement of protest over the proposed ban on photography in New York City subways. I have not yet received any response from the NYCTA, but I will likely publish any response I may yet receive.

So, keep your heads high, photographers. Our voices may have been ignored, but none may criticize us for silence!

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

It wasn't used.

Those are the 200 out of God knows how many were submitted to the contests gallery, to be sent to the New York City Transit Authority. Your photograph is unfortunately not one of them.
