The first Art Anyone? Digital Art Exhibition was launched last Thursday in WISE Coffee Shop. After months of preparation, the launch went extremely well, with every observer leaving with a newfound admiration for digital art, including some who had doubted the value of digital art prior to the exhibition.
Those attending the launch included local artists, local business people, students from the nearby university, members of the public and leading figures in creative industries for the North-West of England.
All the work was well received and deeply deserved to be. The artists involved in this exhibition have all been fantastic to work with, and have gone out of their way to help out in any way they could. Therefore it only seemed fitting that all who observed it appreciated the work. Particular interest was taken in the work of *
rubenslp, who has gained one of Prestons top graffiti artists as an admirer, whilst the work of *
celesse, *
rain1man, *
silveryn, ~
odical and *
he1z (who looks set to sell the first work from the exhibition) also gained notable attention.
An interest of a different kind was taken in *
blunt28 s Train to School; a local business has asked if a slightly adapted version of his creation can feature in one of their brochures. The work was headhunted for this task for its subtle wit and obvious humor.
Already the exhibition looks set to bring further prospects to the talented artists involved, and establishes them as some of the pioneering artists on digital arts journey for public acceptance and appreciation.
Just two days on from the launch, the future looks bright for Art Anyone? also. Offers of future exhibitions, participation in pre-arranged events and even gallery placements are just some of the opportunities that have arisen from Thursdays launch, and with the exhibition set to run way into 2005, who knows what other opportunities may crop up!
I would like to thank everyone who has supported this exhibition in whatever way. Were it not for this support, Art Anyone? would be another addition to an ongoing list of failed attempts. Much effort has gone into this exhibition and I hope that it has nothing but a positive effect to anyone who becomes involved.
