`GeneratingHype on letters, editing and GDship

^lovetodeviate:iconlovetodeviate: reports, August 30
An interview with ex-GD, writer, editor, fascinating person: `GeneratingHype. Here are some tidbits from the interview (which I recommend reading in full):

"Letters presuppose a sort of authenticity, and I truly believe that a story—no matter the form—needs to be authentic and believable.

"Sometimes I wish I had stories such as "I wrote my first published poem at three and a half!" or "I started writing stories at two!", but writing never came easy for me and is still not very easy for me.

The Use of Adverbs in Fiction Writing

=DarcKnyt:iconDarcKnyt: reports, August 29
Adverbs are the endangered species of the adult fiction world. They're frowned on like putting a Baby Ruth bar in a punch bowl at a wedding reception -- not a good idea. They're also indicative of weak writing ... but why? This article covers why adverbs are evil and what you can do to avoid using them.

Issue #2 Of Lost Cause Quarterly Is Now Available

~LostCauseMagazine:iconLostCauseMagazine: reports, January 18, 2006
Lost Cause Quarterly has been so much better received then I ever anticipated. Now Issue #2 is available for download and I encourage anyone interested in short prose to go and give it a look.

The new issue offers some fantastic new material from authors both well known and obscure around the community. Included are fourteen tales of love, friendship, betrayal, revenge and death. Ranging from high fantasy and hard sci-fi to dark and psychological the tales are both sweet and violent. There truly is something for everyone.

Featured in this issue is Jane by Megan Reilly.
Jane is my favorite.
She’s a catatonic, spineless, fifty-cent slut with happy STDs and painkillers.
And I love her.

Also included are works by the following:
Leah Angelo
Richard Bessara
Jacob Caffey
Jeff Fraser
David Henderson
Ora N. Jeffreys
Kathy Kachelries
Weihui Lu
David Lynch
Rose Owens
RebeccaA
skiein
Colin Steele

And beautiful cover art by Neco.
