deviantART wants to see the artists... so we arranged a contest for you to show yourself. Self-portraits are as a tradition as old as art itself, and trying to present ourselves through our art is known to be both challenging and different from all other subjects. It's often easy to capture others but what about when we turn the mirror at ourselves? There are many decisions to be made. Do you want to show yourself realistically, to express your emotions, to express your artistic self? Whatever you go for, this is the time to do it!

rules and guidelines for participation

Any member of deviantART can participate.
Take a photo and submit it to the Show Yourself Contest category.
You can interpret "self" very freely, but it should represent you in some way. Try to be creative. The standard "Put camera in front of face and press button" probably won't win any prizes. Surprise us!
You can manipulate the photo, but your piece must look like a photograph rather than a photo manipulation or something else.
You can submit just one photo. It must be a new photo, and must not have been submitted previously for any other purpose.
All entries must be submitted by March 27, 2006.
Winners will be announced on April 3, 2006.
