321 Skin Contest v2 - May

`abe-x:iconabe-x: reports, May 14, 2006

321 - 3 Entries, 2 Themes, 1 Contest

This Month: RGB & Monochrome

Here's a contest for all you skinners: 321. To enter, all you have to
do is create or collaborate to createa skin that represents either one
or both selected themes as best as you can. Each deviant can enter
only 1 submission per theme, i.e. 1 RGB, 1 Monochrome, and 1
combined. You can skin any application you choose, but your skin must
be complete and in a usable format. There are prizes too: 1-year
subscriptions for the best entries per theme, as well as 3-month
subscriptions for runners-up! Besides, these skins will be featured in
a news article at the end of the month. Judge: ^abe-x.
Before you start, please read through the rules.

Official Rules:

1) Skins must be original work of the participant, and must be
complete and usable. No templates, designs, etc. will be considered. You can also remix one of your own skins to suit the requirements of the monthly themes.

2) Skins must be submitted to Contests > 321
Skin Contest > 321 Contest - May
, with a title that includes the skin name,
current month and theme. For example, 'Myskin RGB May' OR 'MySkin
Combined May'. Furthermore, your description should mention the same
details, as well as the application skinned.

3) Collaborations are also allowed; both participants' usernames must
be mentioned in the entry description, and their roles in creating the
skin as well.

4) Deadline for this month: June 10, 2006.

5) Judge's decisions are final and binding.

Good luck!

FAQ

1) Do I have to submit 3 entries to be considered?
A: No, just 1 will do. You are allowed up to 3 entries, each being
of a separate theme (Theme 1 (RGB), Theme 2(Monochrome),
Combined).

2) Which applications are allowed?
A: All applications listed under Skins & Themes are allowed, as
well as Invision Forum Skins (upon special request).

3) How many artists can be involved in a collaboration?
A: As many as you wish. However, all of them must be credited, and
the prizes will be split among them all. So choose your collab
partners wisely.

I'm a bit unclear about the CMYK theme. I mean, can we just submit any skin, as long as it's in a CMYK format? If so, then it'd look almost the same as an RGB skin, but just a fraction duller  Or are you not primarily concerned with people using the CMYK colour space, but more with people exploring the whole concept of CMYK in some creative way?

Hmm I'm not sure what CMYK has to do with skinning, but rather with prints. I suppose I can find time to do a monochrome one :)

Yes, isn't CMYK a color mode for prints? RGB is for skins...screens.. :/
~setstage:iconsetstage: May 14, 2006, 7:53:12 PM
