PiNK! What an earth is this about I hear you ask. Well, everyone knows the color pink is associated with girls and femininity, just like blue is associated with boys and manhood, but did you know that in 1918 it was quite the opposite? It wasn't until the 1950's that the girls took over the colour pink and the rest is history!

Pink is a combination of red and white. White symbolises the potential for fullness, while red helps you to achieve that potential. Pink combines these energies. Shades of deep pink, such as magenta, are effective in neutralizing disorder and violence. Some prisons use limited deep pink tones to diffuse aggressive behaviour.

Pink is also known as the colour of universal love. It shows loyalty, softness, kindness and happiness. In Korea it symbolises trust, in Japan it's linked with sexuality. Even the Sun is the colour pink recent research shows! Put some pink in your life when you want:

To celebrate the wonderful colour pink we are introducing the PiNK! contest. You can find inspiration everywhere for it. Go all pink or just have a small detail in this colour in your work. We're happy just as long as the colour pink is featured, but do try to think of new and creative ways to incorporate it into your picture.

This is a PHOTOGRAPHY competition. Minor adjustments and darkroom techniques are allowed, but the colour pink MUST be in the original picture and not manipulated in.

The submitted photograph must be NEW, and submitted after this competition has been announced.
