BTL is back! #photographers is proud to announce a Behind The Lens Feature with =jmonzani.

What's BTL?
BTL is a series of featured chats on the dAmn chat network in which deviantART users have the opportunity to talk to some of the site's greatest photographical talents. The Behind the Lens series will allow you to question these great artists about their techniques and thoughts in relation to photography, their attitudes to process and how new advances might affect their work in the future - plus give you the chance to submit many more of your questions and really get inside the working mindset behind those beautiful images.

As the title might suggest you will get access behind the lens and valuable insight into how the photographs are produced, so gaining better understanding of the images from a process point of view as well as having the very obvious sight of an amazing finished product.

The Artist:
=jmonzani, Jean-Sébastien Monzani, is a portrait photographer. When looking at =jmonzani's work, the majority of his photographs come as a series,and the cinematic feel that these series provide sometimes make you wonder if you're looking at beautiful movie stills or an individual's story being captured. Portrait photography needs direction, creativity and trust between model and photographer. =jmonzani's work proves that he is capable of doing all those things and taking it to a professional level. Being a self-taught photographer while getting his PhD in Computer Graphics and having a background in theatre clearly shows that he takes in all his influences and allows them to drive his creativity.



In =jmonzani's own words "Creativity comes from inspiration, and inspiration is lead by what you perceive everyday.....If I had to pick up a sentence to describe my artistic research, it would be these words of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry: Perfection in design is not achieved when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to remove. "
