You might even be one hell of a profesional, but if you don't SHOW it and PROVE it, how will everyone know? These facts are important not only when you are looking for a job, but in any situation when you wish to showcase your work. I decided to share a few guidelines that might help you give the best of yourself and help you be a better profesional.

What is a Citizen?

*DAPoliticalForum:iconDAPoliticalForum: reports, July 3
Do you do your share to make your school, your community, and the world a better place? Do you take responsibility for what goes on around you, participate in community service, help take care of the environment, be a good neighbor, treat other people with respect and dignity, follow the rules of your family, your school, and your society? Are you politically knowledgeable and active? What does it mean to you to be a citizen?

The Seasons Of 3D Contest

`smashmethod:iconsmashmethod: reports, August 1, 2006

Alright guys and girls, it's time for another deviantART 3D Contest!

THEME // The four main seasons (Summer, Fall, Winter, & Spring.)

INSTRUCTIONS // Deviants from around the dA sphere are asked to make a piece which represents at least one of the four main seasons (Summer, Fall, Winter, or Spring), using at least one 3d medium in the basis for their submission. This means you're allowed to use any other means and methods for your work, but at least 1 element in your piece needs to be easily identifiable as coming from a 3d program in some way (ie: from 3d Studio Max, Cinema 4D, Rhino, Bryce, Blender, Lightwave, Maya, Vue, Poser, Terragen, etc...). Then when you post your submission, place it in the Contests >> Seasons of 3D section, and simply mention which season you're attempting to represent in the description, so that your submission will be eligible for judging.

JUDGES // Your judges for this contest are:
^smashmethod
+ekud
*chromosphere
*Sampdoria

PRIZES //
For 1st place: $75 to spend on prints/subscriptions of your choice.
For 2nd place: $50 to spend on prints/subscriptions of your choice.
For 3rd place: $25 to spend on prints/subscriptions of your choice.

QUESTIONS // If you have any questions regarding this contest, please leave them here in a comment with "QUESTION" written in it somewhere, and someone will try to answer them as soon as possible.

DEADLINE // This contest will be open from now until September 1st, that gives you 1 month to make all of your seasonal images come to life! We're expecting great things from this contest, and know you guys and gals will be able to deliver. Get to it!

Despite terragen involving a rendering process, and the use-age of three sets of co-ordinates (X,Y and Z (through height)), through the lack of a true 3d-rotary modelling phase (except in some exceptional circumstances whereby the terrain HAS been modelled externally in a program such as cinema4d) I'd have my doubts as to it being considered a "true enough" application for this contest, which is a fair point. I'd have thought the same thing applies to Vue d'espirit. However, the aims of those programs would be ideal for competing in this contest... so I'll be waiting to see what the judges make of this one.

It has to be noted that the description/guidelines for submitting to the 3d gallery on deviantart read "This section is entirely dedicated to 3-Dimensional Digital Art, therefore submissions here utilize the Cartesian coordinates (X,Y,Z) on a 2-Dimensional digital canvas. Such items include 3-Dimensional renders from a 3D program, or art where 3-Dimensional depictions account for the majority of the artwork." Thus it would make most sense if a competition held on dA echoed that ideal.
