With the holidays at hand, this can be a stressful time of the year. Everyone is busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest. But do take a moment to check out these relevent glimpses into the future.
Since all the trouble we had with Jark back last year I have gradually noticed a trend, some of my most valued watching material is disapearing at quite an alarming rate. I did not notice this really until recently.
It raised a point for me, when a deviant is banned or leaves there is no way of telling.
I didnt realise until a couple of days ago that !coxi had left. I presume he left because i doubt he was banned. To be honest im pretty upset about that, his images were inspirational and he doesnt have an online portfolio to my knowlege.
Does anyone know whats happened there, i dont want to pry into someone elses business but I was kind of hoping he has another account or something?
I also noticed that !klynx is gone to, in the last few days? Why?
I guess I want to know whats happening here, why are these people leaving/being banned? It seems like the members on this site whom I really admire are slowly diminishing. Dont get me wrong guys, i still have about 50 people in my watch list who's work I regularly enjoy..........................
I know im kinda naughty posting in news, but in a way it is gossip and im sure there are other people thinkinig the same. Also, no one seems to answer anywhere else.
Thanks for reading
Regards
Ben

Dark matter flowing out on to a tape...
Probably removed by DA for breaking a policy or two. DA doesn't won't tell the general population why, and would be wrong for them to do so anyways...

hey!
a lot of bans are scapegoat bans, this is particularly true of klynx, he was far from a friend to dA and wasn't precisely one to keep his mouth shut over it, being someone who had a lot of critical commentary, he got noticed that much more, so his deviations from the rules were that much easier to justify and enforce.
you are right that in the past year+ a lot of solid, long standing deviants have begun leaving; there are numerous reasons, but i know a lot of these people from being here as long as i have, and they are unanimously reporting a few things:
1. being banned isn't a bad thing to them, it was just the final step to leaving in some cases.
2. they've already moved on to more art-centric communities anyways.
3. they'd grown utterly tired of the staff, even more than the $core.
4. lotta disagreements with $spyed, °dygel and $chix0r to name the top names i saw mentioned by people leaving. dygel obviously is no longer staff, and despite his sometimes disagreeable ways, the loss of him in the community certainly had an effect that is noticable.
5. the rest: unenforced rules; unfullfilled promises; unrealized features; croneyism; selective enforcement; "case by case" punishment levies; disagreements over other's bans; heavy pressuring from staff/core; etc.
i don't blame people for going away, i'm sad that we've lost quality personalities and artists though, as the general disregard by the company towards artistic sensibilities, artist's empathy levels, community bonds and constructive nature has increased dramatically in the latter half of deviantART's life, creating a strong 'us vs. them' sense for many of the longer standing members.
