I actually liked the way of v4, where dA staff picked which get listed bold. I think this should be brought back, either as a preference, or standard. Because now the message centre news list is filled with crap, just like this post :/

The news system may not work how everyone wants it to, but the ban system still works. Eventually, the newness will fade, the shit get voted down, and it won't be fun any longer. Then we'll see some real news.
It would also help, if peopel would quit commenting on stuff like the spam (and incidentally, this 'article', which is more appropriate for a journal, or a forum discussion. It certainly is not news).
Furthermore, they are more than likely going to disable Hot Topic as an optin in the post process.
