Through my year and a bit of being here among the people of deviantART, I've noticed that there are quite a few clubs out there, that people can join to be apart of a group of people with the same interests. People enjoy being in groups where they can show their love for whatever it is the club represents. I've noticed that quite a few clubs aren't very active any more.

To jump to the chase, while being an active member of the dA community, I've noticed that the "Silent Hill" fan community is quite.. large. And as mentioned before, people like to be apart of active groups where people will appreciate their fanart, and fandom.

I'm here to report on contests at two of the more 'active' Silent Hill clubs that I think any Silent Hill fan should be a part of. Plus, everyone loves to win prizes.

|Brookhaven-Hospital|

At ~Brookhaven-Hospital, a "Create your own Monster" contest** is going on for a one month subscription to deviantART. Information about the contest are as follows:

_Theme: Create Your Own Silent Hill Monster!
_{Due Date}: September 1st '06
_Rules: As many entries as you'd like, just send them by note. No official images. Any media.
_Prizes: 1 month subscription to dA
_Concept: Silent Hill is full of weird-ass monsters, and now it's your chance to CREATE YOUR OWN. Also, share some stats about it in the description, or writing (if you choose to write a description of it, or possibly a story), so we can know more about your creation. Where does it live? What does it do? How does it move around? Does it have a weapon?
_Further: Your monster can be a regular monster like a patient demon, or mannequin, or possibly a 'boss' like Pyramid Head or 'God'. Make it up. You can base it off of an existing monster, but total creativity gets you more points.

_{About the club itself:}
~Brookhaven-Hospital is a Silent Hill fanclub where people who join have the opprotunity to 'claim' their favorite character from the games and movie. As of now, there is no real reason to claim the characters, besides the joy of being able to say "Hey! I've claimed Pyramid Head!" or whichever character. They have even compiled any information you may need to know about Silent Hill there, and it is readily available for anyone in need.

At ~ph-fans, another contest is going on. It is a "What does Pyramid Head really look like" contest**, where fans can possibly win a one month subscription (depending on amount of entries) or a feature in their journal. Information about the contest are as follows:

_Theme: What does Pyramid Head really look like under that mask?
_Example: Perhaps he has long brown hair, and bright blue eyes. Maybe he has no face at all. Maybe, just maybe that mask IS his face!
_Rules: Please do not use any official images. You can submit new or (mildly) old artworks. You can use any medium including writing. You can submit more than one. Sketches are exceptable.
_{To Enter}: Submit your entry to us by noting the club. Subject the note 'Contest 5 Entry' and provide a link to the image in your gallery. If you send it to us in any other way, it will not be counted.
_Deadline: August 26th, 2006

~ph-fans is a fan club for the great Pyramid Head. Whether fans are in love with PH from Silent Hill 2, or the movie version, all fans of Pyramid Head are welcome to be apart of this club. There is always a contest going on here.

In conclusion, these are just two opportunities on deviantART to get yourself a 1 month's subscription to this huge art community. Your art doesn't have to be "awesome" to enter these contests. The fact that you put effort into it is enough.

People enjoy getting feedback from people who know what their art is about. So, if you're in love with Pyramid Head, or simply love to create monsters for no real reason, then perhaps you should take some time and effort to try to submit an entry into these contests. You could win a subscription!

Come on by these clubs, join, enter the contest, enter your fan art, or just give critique to the art that is already there. Show your support for the community, Silent Hill fans and their art! It's always fun to communicate with people who have the same interests as you!
