Barenaked Ladies T-Shirt Design Contest – UPDATED

In celebration of their new album, Barenaked Ladies would like YOU to design a t-shirt for their upcoming tour!

All you have to do is create a new design for Barenaked Ladies (please see below contest guideline). The top contenders will be presented to the band, and they will choose a winner, who will receive $1000 in prizes!

Barenaked Ladies (often abbreviated as BNL) are a Canadian alternative pop rock group comprised of band members Steven Page, Ed Robertson, Tyler Stewart, Kevin Hearn and Jim Creeggan. Formed in Toronto in 1988, they are best know for their hit singles, "One Week", "Pinch Me", "If I Had $1000000" and "Brian Wilson", and have grown to become one of North America's best-loved live acts. BNL will release their eighth studio album, "Barenaked Ladies Are Me", this September 12th.

CONTEST RULES

By clicking submit, you declare that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by the Contest Rules.

HOW TO ENTER: Entries must be submitted in a jpeg format (see specifications below) via the Internet. If you are a Selected Entrant you will also be required to sign a hard copy of the Entry Form and Release Form as part of the contest closing documents before the prize will be awarded.

The Contest commences on August 14, 2006 and all entries must be submitted on the website on or before September 14, 2006 at 11:59 pm pst (the Contest closing date).


Entrants may submit as many entries as they like as long as the entries meet the following criteria:

Entrants may submit as many entries as they like as long as the entries meet the following criteria:


- only jpg images in RGB colour will be accepted (not CMYK);

- Entries can be hand drawn or created on the computer;

- A maximum of 4 colours to be used in the design;

- The image uploaded should be approximately 600 x 600 pixels and under 1 MB file size;

- The design must be 100% your work;

- No copyrighted images can be used in anyway;

- You cannot use any of Barenaked Ladies’s logos unless you draw them yourself and use them in some manipulated way.

- Retain your hi-resolution version of the design as it will be required to produce the final artwork should you be the Selected Entrant.


Submit your deviations to the proper contest category: submit art (found on your userpage) -> deviation -> community projects -> contests -> Barenaked Ladies Contest


By entering in this contest you have read and agree to the terms stated in the contest rules.

PRIZES: One (1) Grand Prize entry and five (5) secondary prize entries will then be picked after Sept 15th, 2006 from the eligible entries received. The entries will be judged and selected by the band based upon the criteria of 33% originality, 33% creativity and 33% content. Judging will be conducted by the judging panel in its sole and exclusive discretion. All decisions of the judging panel are final. In the event of a tie, a tiebreaker will be conducted based upon skill. For Wisconsin residents only, in the event of a tie, duplicate prizes will be awarded. In the discretion of the judges, the Grand Prize winning entry will appear on a t-shirt which will be produced and sold as Barenaked Ladies merchandise. The Grand Prize Selected Entrant will not receive any compensation from the production or sale of t-shirts. The Grand Prize Selected Entrant will receive the following prizes:


- One (1) $500.00 Gift Certificate for Amp Merchandise; (([link])

- One (1) framed art print of the “Barenaked Ladies Are Me” album cover signed by the band;

- One (1) vinyl copy of the “Barenaked Ladies Are Me” album cover signed by the band; and

- One (1) t-shirt including the winning design signed by the band.

- Two (2) concert tickets to one upcoming Barenaked Ladies concert in the US or Canada. The Selected Entrant may choose the city where they wish to attend the Barenaked Ladies show. The Selected Entrant and their ticket companion will be responsible for all other costs associated with the show including, but not limited to, travel, accommodations, food, beverages, gratuities and items of a personal nature.

- One (1) Barenaked Ladies CD catalogue.

The approximate total retail value of the Grand prize is $1000.00 Cdn.

The five (5) secondary prizes to be awarded will consist of the following:

- One (1) copy of the “Barenaked Ladies Are Me” CD signed by the band.

The approximate total retail value of each secondary prize is $15.00 Cdn.

Before being declared a winner of any prize, the Selected Entrants, if a Canadian resident, must have correctly answered a mathematical skill-testing question posed during a telephone interview or in person, without mechanical or other assistance. Before being declared a winner, each Selected Entrant will be required to sign a Declaration and Release Form confirming compliance with the Contest rules and acceptance of the prize as awarded, releasing Nettwerk Productions, [link], and the Artist ("The Sponsors") from any and all liability in association with the contest or the prize and transferring all right, title and interest to the artwork to the Sponsors. The Grand Prize winning artwork will only be included on the t-shirts and the prizes awarded on the execution of the release.

The Sponsors reserve the right to cancel this promotion at any time for any reason. The prizes are not transferable, refundable, or redeemable for cash. The prizes must be accepted as described and as awarded. If a Selected Entrant cannot be reached by 5:00 p.m. (PST) on September 20th, 2006 or a prize notification letter or any prize is returned as undeliverable, or a Selected Entrant is unable or unwilling to comply with the Contest rules, the prize will be forfeited.

ELIGIBILITY: The Contest is open to all individual residents of Canada (excluding Quebec) and legal residents of the United States over the age of 12, except for employees of the Sponsors and their affiliated companies, advertising and promotional agencies, and all persons with whom such excepted persons are domiciled. Should an entrant be under the age of majority in the province or state of their residence, a parent or guardian must authorize the minor to enter the Contest by submitting the Entry Form and the Release Form on the minor’s behalf and if a minor is selected as a potential winner, the prize will be awarded to the parent or legal guardian and the parent or legal guardian must sign and return all required documentation.

Individuals may enter this Contest only if entering the Contest will not put them in breach of, or conflict with, any agreements which they are a party to.

GENERAL:
All entrants acknowledge by entering this Contest that any artwork provided on the deviantART website as part of this Contest cannot be used by the entrants (or others) for any other purpose whatsoever other than to enter this Contest.

By participating in this Contest, entrants acknowledge compliance with, and agree to be bound by these rules including eligibility requirements and the decisions of the judges, which decisions shall be final and binding upon all Contestants.

Entrants release and hold harmless the Sponsors and any Internet access providers, and their respective divisions, affiliates, related companies, directors, officers, subsidiaries, agents, employees and all others associated with the development and execution of this Contest, from and against any and all liability with respect to or in any way arising from this Contest and the awarding, use, or misuse of any prize, including liability for personal injury or damage to property.

The Sponsors are not responsible for entries which are lost, misdirected or delayed for any reason whatsoever including, but not limited to: technical malfunctions; human error; corrupted data transmission; interruption, deletion, defect or line failures of any telephone network, computer equipment, software or any combination thereof; CDs which are submitted by entrants which are defective or made incorrectly; any inability to access the site; or damage to a user's system occasioned by participating in the Contest. Sponsors are not responsible for lost, late, mutilated, misdirected, illegible, incomplete or postage-due mail or entries or if they violate third party rights or are otherwise not in compliance with these rules. Web entrants must have a valid email address. In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of the person submitting an electronic entry, the entry will be deemed to be submitted by the person in whose name the email account is registered.

No responsibility will be taken for any failure of the Contest website during the promotion, or for any problems or technical malfunctions of a telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any entry to be received by deviantART.com on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrant's or any other person's computer or property related to or resulting from playing or downloading any material in the promotion. The Sponsors reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to cancel or suspend this Contest should a virus, bug or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of the Sponsors corrupt the security or proper administration of the Contest. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this promotion is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, the Sponsors reserve the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution. Sponsors will not be responsible or held liable for any images or artwork which are included in any submitted materials which have been copied from any other source.

Selected Entrants agree to license the winning designs to the Barenaked Ladies on an exclusive basis. Entrants acknowledge that Nettwerk Productions may commercially release or otherwise exploit the artwork design in any manner it deems fit, now or hereinafter invented, without territories limitations, and that entrant shall not be entitled to any payment of any kind as a result of such use or other exploitation.

All decisions of the judging panel are final. The chances of being selected depend upon the total number of eligible entries received and upon the decisions of the judging panel. This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, state and municipal laws and regulations.

No correspondence will be entered into except with the Selected Entrants. Selected Entrants will be notified within two (2) weeks of the contest by email or telephone. By entering this Contest, except where prohibited by law, the Selected Entrants consent to the use of their name and/or photograph, without compensation, in any publicity carried out by Nettwerk Productions, deviantART and the Artist, in connection with the Contest in any and all media without territorial or time limitations, and they waive all rights with respect to printed, broadcast and other publicity.

All winning entries become the property of Nettwerk Productions and none will be returned to the entrants.

could you please explain to me what's with the 'excluding quebec' thingy cause it's a real pain in the ass with overall contests (not the first time I see that crap). I seriously don't understand their motive in stopping good and talented artists of quebec (think about it, it's not just a regional contest, it's open to everyone in canada and in the united states but for some unknown reason to me I, and other fellow quebec resident, couldnt participate in this contest.
