Neil Braithwaite (`randomcasualty) is still alive. He never died from cancer as was reported in this news article. In fact, he never had cancer.

When Neil had reportedly passed away, I can't quite explain how upset I was. I cried real tears, I felt real pain. I left work early that day and went for a walk. To this day my best friends remember me going through that day. And other friends of mine outside of deviantART recall the name Neil as the fellow whose passing caused a whole community great sadness.

As recently as today, and a day ago, and 3 days before that, 20 minutes before that, 1 day before that, etc. ... deviants have commented on the user page of `randomcasualty with the following words:

rest in peace Neil.. we'll miss you a lot.. hope you'll be more happy & peaceful there..
rest in peace..im sure youre watching us and seeing all of this.
wish I could have met you
Rest in Peace. Sorry I could never have met you.
rest in peace neil, i hope you are in a better place now
Until the turning of the heavens, be at peace.

In the past year, over 50,000 deviants have visited his page to pay tribute and to remember him fondly.


But he lied to us by not coming forth when he knew.

To bask in the heart felt words of the deviantART community knowing full well a healing truth for our torment is monster.

Neil Braithwaite of Aylesbury, England; I despise the words of kindness that I wrote from my heart in your honor. I'm embarrassed for your family and I'm disgusted in a way I've never been before.

As warm as my words once were and as graciously as this community treated your passing; I hope you have the capacity in you today to feel the way you should.
