Lockdown at V-Tech

~kuroinami:iconkuroinami: reports, August 21, 2006
I have to say, this is one of those times that I am very glad that I don't go to Virginia Tech. While it is one of the best engineering schools in the state, it is also currently under lockdown. An escaped convict is believed to be on campus. The escapee, William Morva, is the prime suspect in a homicide case that has yet to come to trial. According to the Tech website the man is now wearing a "tie-dye shirt, khaki shorts and is barefoot."

Please, if you are on campus, or know someone who is, be careful! Do not take unnecessary risks. If you think you have seen the man, call the police!

For more information, and to see a photo of the man, please visit the Virginia Tech website at:

Some people may object to this for its lack of art-related material, but I for one would like to thank you for posting it. It's an important safety issue.

That's terrible that VTech had to be locked down due to an escaped convict being on campas.

Just how many people get their campus news from DA?

Though it is news... i fail to see the relevance community wise.

Bring Back $jark
~kuroinami:iconkuroinami: Aug 22, 2006, 2:59:58 AM
Actually, it was meant to be more of an alert than a news item.

Suppose someone was out sitting under a tree, using the campus wireless to surf dA, and had no clue what was going on around them. It’s happened to me before. I just thought that putting this out on dA would give that person a fighting chance of getting back to a dorm room or to some other safe place.

 I don’t know if there is a way to take this down since the situation is now over, but if there is, would you mind too terribly telling me?

I can certainly understand wanting to try and notify people about it. But think about it: Do you really think there was anybody on that campus who didn't know what was going on? And also, news like this only affects the very small percentage of people who attend that college. How many of that small percentage of people would come across dA and how many of that smaller percentage would happen to see this article. Not many. :hmm: That's why I don't think it belonged here.

And unfortunately, there is no way to remove the article... so far as i know...

I don't know, I guess I just figured that even if I only let one person on the entire campus know what was going on, then it was worth putting up. Just my thinking, though.
