The Good Lord knows, I like naked ladies. But, even something as fun as this can be over done.

Perhaps I am not the only one suspicious as to why it seems that a good 70% of "Featured Deviantions" at Deviant Art feature naked ladies, but it should raise a few good eyebrows.

So, is that your ticket to get featured, throw some naked ladies into the shot? Well, I hate to say it, but unfortunately I personally find them in short supply. I have very few naked ladies in my immediate vicinity. My last check found only my wife sleeping in her bed, and even she doesn't count, as she is wearing flannel pajamas.

There are plenty of naked ladies in the world however. (Just not here. Damn!) Given the apparent odds, if they are not careful, they may find themselves in the throes of some Manhattan-style black and white photographer, who only will show her goods in a strange position (like, bent over with one leg straight up,) in a greyscale shot taken behind the shade of closed blinds tilted, "Crestfallen." Or even, "Gift of Light" for that matter. Furthermore, the shot will no doubt end up featured on dA's webpages, gaining a good three trillion views and just shy of 23 million favs. (Provided the naked lady in question is in her early twenties, has washboard abs, and C-cup breasts.)

Again, let me state my fondness of naked ladies, I am enormously heterosexual. (Sometimes, monstrously so.) So, I don't mind seeing them. And, yes, I know, I am supposed to appreciate it for the beauty, not anything to do with sex per se. But, therein lies the problem. For one, the picture is very beautiful, but my sexuality may be the reason why I think that. If it was a naked dude (which oddly, rarely gets featured,) I am sure I wouldn't enjoy it as much. Also... it is kind of cheating as an artist, don't you think? It takes little or no talent to make a lovely nude woman appealing in a photograph or painting. (Naked ladies could even make "Dogs Playing Poker" sophisticated.) I [would] much rather see a photographer who has the ability to find the beauty in a gas meter, or could make a dry ice factory interesting to look at.

And I do admit that it is nice to see nude ladies in something that doesn't objectify them in any way. The black and white pose is certainly more respectful than somebody else's work featuring a midget and two goats.

But, why then, so many features?

As a paying member of Deviant Art, I would like to complain that (and this may be the first and last time I will say this) there are too many naked ladies here. There are countless other subjects in photography that we should all be treated to. There was a guy on here that liked to photograph buses. How interesting is that?

Naked ladies do get a lot of views on their own, but there is a reason for that. They're naked! However, despite other features that can be downright breathtaking, naked ladies rule the features.

Everyone [here] knows me as someone whose preferred art medium is railroad photography. There are a lot of us here at dA, [yet] this may never be featured as a subject, I'm sure. Is it because railroad photographers tend to be chubby, nasally-speaking guys who live with their moms, as opposed to a wiry young man in a tight, black turtle neck shooting in a New York Loft?

Or is it that some of us at dA like to express ourselves with something other than nice, firm hooters?
