Deviant Art, as great a site as it may be, isn't designed to facilitate the sharing and hot linking of images like other dedicated image hosting sites. Having an account is especially helpful if you need to put in a banner or some other image into your DA journal (if you're subscribed to the site). I did a quick review of three and here is what I found:

Storage limit: 1gb
Bandwidth limit for hot linking: 10gb a month
Image size limit: 1mb before being resized
Ability to order prints: yes
Ability to send photos directly using email/cell phone: yes
Photobucket also added the feature to share video with a 5 min/100mb file limit.

ImageShack [link]
Storage limit: Unlimited
Bandwidth limit for hot linking: 100mb per hour
Image size limit: 1.5mb before being resized
Ability to order prints: no
Ability to send photos directly using e-mail/cell phone: yes
ImageShack allows quick uploading and resizing without having to register to the site which is nice if you need to quickly share one or two images and don't need to keep track of them afterwards.

Flickr [link]
Storage limit: 20mb of uploads per calendar month.
Bandwidth limit for hot linking: Unknown
Image size limit: 5mb and resized to 1024px on the long side
Ability to order prints: yes
Ability to send photos directly using e-mail/cell phone: yes
Flickr is a strange entry as it's built more as a photo album but still allows a level of hot linking so images can be shared on your personal site. Flickr also supports groups and each has their own forum.

These three sites are the major players in image hosting, with many other smaller sites offering hot linking on a one-by-one upload basis without registration. Happy blogging, commenting, emailing, IMing, or whatever else you may need image hosting for.
