The Collective: The Tych

`imogene:iconimogene: reports, September 10, 2006
The Collective
There are a lot of artists/art thats overlooked on dA. I will be posting a different subject every few weeks to bring some exposure to different artists, cameras, genre's etc.

The Tych
When I think of 'tychs (p.s. not an actual word) I think of pieces of a whole. Elements that bring what the artist is trying to convey in the order they want their viewer to understand. Sometimes a tych is used to bring the connection of a place and a person together, to tell a story, to highlight and seperate important portions etc. You can think of this collection as a tych. When looking at all of it as a whole it is interesting to see how the tych represents itself differently in fashion, nature, street, nude, memory, love etc. Enjoy.

Photography records the gamut of feelings written on the human face, the beauty of the earth and skies that man has inherited, and the wealth and confusion man has created. It is a major force in explaining man to man. ~Edward Steichen

If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn't need to lug around a camera. ~Lewis Hine

Interesting, educational feature and great thumbs! The storytelling aspect is particularly compelling in these pieces. I especially like "dont call the cops+come alone" by *JadeInCatacomb and "..building the armory.." by ~triggerfinger I must be in a red and green mood!

Looks like the fifth photo down on the far left and the ninth down on the far right have been removed, though. I get a "forbidden" message.

fab fab fab! I am amazed how much emotion can be projected by putting certain images together, and not just the portraits.

Amazing collection, and lots of hard work. Can't imagine how long this took you Lani :faint:
