GUI Champs 2006 Announce The GUIs is the ultimate Graphical User Interface (GUI) competition
Graphics designers from around the world will be competing in three primary GUI categories; Icons, Visual Styles and Wallpapers. This years competition has a prize pool totaling near $12,000!
Starting Tuesday, September 12th, skinners will be able to submit their work to the competition website (
http://www.guichamps.com), with the first events being judged in early October, and the overall Best Skinner crowned the second week of November.
The GUI Championships 2006 is the third run for the competition and is supported by a number of highly-regarded technology and artist community sites. This year, our primary community sponsors are:

As to customizing MacOS X, Apple locks down the UI so tight that I don't think there's any way to go in and do much of any customizing to the core UI.
On Linux, sure you can go in and make a KDE theme, but there aren't many intuitive tools to build the UI in, in the first place. It's not a very friendly system to skin if you aren't expert at what you're doing.
And lol, I have both a PC and a Mac, but I don't use my PC at all, it's just too ugly >_<
