An Overview on Point o' View

=DarcKnyt:iconDarcKnyt: reports, August 22

In the ongoing effort to support Back to Basics month, this article attempts to provide a brief overview for writers struggling to find their voice.

The Use of Adverbs in Fiction Writing

=DarcKnyt:iconDarcKnyt: reports, 4h 38m ago
Adverbs are the endangered species of the adult fiction world. They're frowned on like putting a Baby Ruth bar in a punch bowl at a wedding reception -- not a good idea. They're also indicative of weak writing ... but why? This article covers why adverbs are evil and what you can do to avoid using them.

Rainbow of Poetry: Purple

`bananaprincess:iconbananaprincess: reports, September 25, 2006
Well, this is it: the last edition of Rainbow of Poetry! I want to thank everyone who has supported this feature by reading the poems, commenting, +hearting. Thanks for showing that poetry has an audience on dA. Thanks also to ^imperfect, who thought up the color idea and has been a huge help with organization.

This final edition is a bit late--with school now in full swing, many contributors have had less time for poem searching. However, we've managed to bring you poems with wine, plums, pomegranates, blackberries, and other yummy things! As always, some poems relate more directly to "purple" than others. Enjoy, and thanks again!

"4. of Multiplication..." by ~stabbedbycupid

"Lavender" by ~Love-in-the-mist

"mia vita violenta" by ~ulala

"Jam" by ^PoeticWar

"there are voices, only" by ~decalogue

"Cabernet Sauvignon" by *caveatLECTOR

While the point of this feature was to find poems already on deviantART, *salshep, upon hearing of our quest for "purple" in dAlit, wrote a poem of such subtle goodness that it must be shared. We bring you "Pr0n-ku."

Classic purple poems: The plum poems of William Carlos Williams!

"This Is Just To Say" is fun, and also comes in handy as a poetic note to leave roommates next time you raid their side of the fridge.

"To a Poor Old Woman" is a favorite WCW poem, and good to study for its use of repetition and linebreaks.
