We're doing this to facilitate the transition between the Legend and the Dictionary. Yes, the Dictionary is still on the project slate, but at the moment we're continuing to refine Portfolio, Groups, and Search/Browse. Hang in there, emote fans! Our day will come."

A Feature for the Soul

reports, 14h 39s agoThis was started on Wednesday, June 24th and finished on Thursday, June 25th - this was something I worked on for a fair-few hours both days. A true labor of love, it was born out of a need to express myself and to give a voice to my seemingly long-dead, creative soul. With one person in mind in the middle of a maelstrom of imagery, I tried my very best to not only craft a dedication to this person, but to a younger, purer self - something I believe my focus still has. It took a while, but I finally found a balance between words & imagery I was content with - building into the fabric of words an utterly gorgeous collection of features, deviations I have both loved for a very, very long time and some I found that night/morning.
It was suggested that I create a news article on this, to share it with more people and give others a more pointed chance to appreciate it, so I have indulged. I hope it is worthy.

Cut and Paste: Collage Art Spotlight, vol. 6

reports, October 3, 2006Is it just my imagination, or are you all stepping up the pace in the Collage Art catagory? Wow! As I perused all the latest submissions in the collage section, I was giddy to see the variety and talent on display!
What really struck me was the number of portraits done in this style. So much so, that I almost devoted this week's issue of 'Cut and Paste' to portraits. But I just couldn't leave behind the other fabulous collages I had found. So, everyone gets to share the spotlight again this week.
I still have to point out one particular deviation called Transplant by ~Picket-Fence-Cartel - which is dedicated to her art teacher. I am a sucker for dedications, especially ones for teachers who obviously had an impact on someone. This one really made me want to know the rest of the story.
Another feature this week is by someone who is certainly not a stranger here on dA! *ursulav, well known for her wonderfully whimsical artwork and storytelling, created a collage called Magnolia Warbler. It is accompanied with a great little story about how the piece came to be, and I just adore it. Also, congrats to Urusla, who just recently landed a book deal!
All the others I will leave for you to discover on your own. All of them really knocked my striped socks off this week, for various reasons. Whether it was the random colors and design that caught my eye, or the precision of the piece that was noteworthy... they all keep me coming back to this art form with great admiration.
