The butter legion- a socialist movement/mass colab project I started, to trigger artistic change and evolution in Da artists (mainly my watchers), to make them more active and dedicated on DA. Now 170 people strong and growing... A "dangerous cult"? a "new religion"? "artistic version of fight club" or "communist movement"? You decide!

Some people cannot just keep their mouth shut, but out of jealousy abuse other deviants on their art. It sickens me.
Recently I was told of a deviation that made the front page. I heard it was this big joke and that the artwork was rubbish, so I went and checked it out. What I saw was ammatuer still life, clearly not a accustomed and used to doing this sort of thing. But people were complaining at him for being on the front page! They were abusing the artist, name calling on their front page and being rude about the artwork!
Why!?
Constructive criticism is one thing, "I dont mean to be rude, but this looks rubbish" is another. What really gets me is all this people complain and moan that a deviation is undeserving of being on the front page, so what makes something worthy?
I see many cartoons, nude photos, comicstrips, fanart, portraits, and I dont think alot of them deserve all the attention they get. Do I complain at the artist? No. I respect the artist and their work, if I find something about the art I like, I comment on it. If I dont like it I dont comment, simple.
Things become popular because of favourites and pageviews. When you all keep going on a deviation you think is undeserving just because you want to feel better about yourself and belittle someone else, remember you are just strengthen the length of the deviation being popular. How would you feel yourself if artwork of yours hit the front page and hundreds of people insulted you?
A few people I know have been there. My artwork has been there because someone coloured my lines. The words were not as harsh but they still cut sharply.
So this goes to all the dicks in deviantArt who think they are better than everyone else, raising a big middle finger up and them and saying to grow up and learn some respect. If you went to an artists gallery in real life and they were there, you wouldnt insult and artist in their face. You wouldnt have went to the gallery to begin with if you didnt like the look of the artwork.
There are alot of good people of deviantArt, but this section of deviants who think like this sicken me, and I couldnt bite me tongue any longer.
oh. i thought i saw some other 'news' articles that were the writer expressing their opinion. i thought i would too after what i saw today. i'll know next now though.
Well, to some extent it's allright to write "editorials", but expressing personal thoughts and feeling to this extent, is at least not something I find to fit very well, often, it does better in ones journal
You can't, moderators can, though, but it'll take some time before it's done - and of course only if the admins think it's not to stay - don't think too much of it
This would've made a great editorial had you paid more attention to grammar, spelling, and punctuation and had watched your language a bit more. As it is, it looks more like a Journal entry than an editorial.
Devious Technology is very proud to announce one of deviantART’s most highly anticipated projects – Portfolio: The Awesome Version!! Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
DaVinci, Picasso, Monet... these are all names I'm sure you've heard of before. They are the Masters of the art world and their talents are world renowned. But have you ever looked at their pieces and thought to yourself "I could do better" or "that would look awesome in a comic style"? Well here's your chance. How would you have painted DaVinci's Mona Lisa? Show me using only Vectors.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
