More and more Nazis on DA

~DevineSilence:iconDevineSilence: reports, October 5, 2006
It has been alarming. At first I thought there're some grumblers. But then I read his whole Nickpage.. clicked some names... clicked some more names on their pages.. I could have spent the whole afternoon flipping through their pages. I became terrified. Nazis. I don't mean the people who like uniforms or who're interested in wars in general. And I also don't mean the people who're making fun of nazis. I mean the people who say that they hate jews, that they hate gays and so many other things. I got notes from those people. They told me "sieg heil". They told me to join their groups. I'm German. I'm disgusted.

Seeing this movement as a German may be different from seeing it from an other perspective. It casts a damning light on me. As a person. Because I am German. I don't want to talk to them. I don't want that they exist. Here in Germany people can get to prison for showing nazi symbols. Here on DA I see dozens.
I'm not only German. I'm also gay. I feel offended by them. Sometimes I'm affraid. I'm glad that I'm living in modern Germany, where you can be the way you like and where's a very small amound of them. But they're here on DA.

So why am I talking to you? why is this news? Because YOU can help getting them away from here. Their goal is not to present their art. Their goal is to spread their propaganda. Helping is easy and costs you maybe 1 minute. You can simply report a piece that shares nazi-thoughts. Do it. It's a good thing.

Although I have to say I don't like the hate anymore than you do, DA is based in a place where freedom of speech is acceptable. They keep their opinions to their page from what I see, so you can't pin them for hurting others specifically by saying "I hate you". Just don't listen to their "propaganda" or visit their pages. It is all you or myself can do.
You should definetly go through the FAQ provided by =devilious-red's comment

This is one of those issues where art meets politics...I don't agree with Nazi beleifs, but one point of view is that if they are banned, then dA would also have to ban everyone that has any anti-american artwork, or anti-anything for that matter...It's one thing to express your views, but when those views become actions (ie violent acts against certain parties, or in a more dA-related scenario, falmming or spamming in the name of a certain ideal or belief) then the people carrying out those actions should be punished. I wish these people weren't around, but it's a free world...

I think there should be a clear distinction between critical or political art (which can be, like you say anti-american or anti-whatever) and nazi-propoganda without art....in Austria, where I live and I think in Germany too the exclamation of nazi-glorifying slogans or displaying nazi-symbols in public is a criminal offence and is to be punished.

And no, it isn't a free world.

It is only such an offense in your country because everyone there is and was much more affected by Hitlers actions, than everyone in North America (that didn't move from your area during/after the war). It's called over reacting, to a part.

of course it's over reacting....because hailing to mass-murderers and their accomplices is a really nice sport event.....and provoking a world war is just a bagatelle...

but you're right about the closeness...Americans (and Canadians) don't have the historic background to "over react" like you label it....
(maybe you would think different if something like that would have happened in your country....)

I'm half German, and no I don't agree with what he did. But banned people from dA for disliking a certain group of people is against free will. What's next? Banned people who hate wiccans or homosexuals or the color orange? :|
