Giving to those who are truly in need

=ImaRawkStar:iconImaRawkStar: reports, December 23
This is the time of year of which we all get tangled up in our own troubles and do not focus on some of the real issues of the world. Well, heifer.org can help us with this, by giving animals to families who are truly in need of food, shelter and security.

By donating a small sum of money, such as ten to twenty dollars, you could provide a family with an animal such as a cow, which could produce milk for the family, for food and cooking. With the extra milk it produces, the family can go to the local market and sell the milk to gain more money, which could go towards food and shelter. Over time, the family will start to gain an income and will be able to earn an education.

With the education, they can receive a steady job and produce a stable income for the family to survive. Just by donating a small sum of money, you could not change one life, but many around them. But this is not just it, the family MUST produce offspring to give to another family, which will do the same thing as the family before. Over time, the community will grow and sooner or later, the impoverished areas will start to gain strength.

Even if you can not donate any money, please donate a few seconds or minutes by adding a favorite to this article and sending it on to other deviants around deviantart. It would be really awesome if we could get some support on this, and maybe as an art community we can pull together to help others in need! I know it can be done!

Rape is not just a crime, it is a heinous and personal invasion on the most intimate of levels. Rape destroys lives and belittles its victims. End the silence, conquer fear, and speak up. We need to raise awareness and help prevent this inhumane crime.

Oxidised Issue I - Rust [Abstract & Industrial]

`tExTuReMaTtIc:icontExTuReMaTtIc: reports, October 11, 2006
Rust (n) "Any of various powdery or scaly reddish-brown or reddish-yellow hydrated ferric oxides formed on iron and iron-containing materials by low-temperature oxidation in the presence of water."

I'm not sure what first got me interested in textural abstracts but, I distinctly remember flying through the air at 40mph into the side of a dumpster when I was 15. Maybe I got a few paint chips wedged in my scalp... who knows? All I know is that I scrapped the Kawazaki that day and now, wherever I go I see a certain beauty in all forms of decay...

Often these are patterns and formations that the most accomplished hands and acrylics couldn't emulate. In my search for ever more abstract streaks, scrapes and scratches, I find myself often in places such as those featured below... abandoned warehouses, factories and barns that whilst often considered (and are indeed) dangerous are also mother lodes of colour, shape, form and texture, especially so because of the often gorgeous lighting that filters through broken roof tiles, cracked perspex and dirt frosted windows. Rust accentuates all these elements through patternation, colouration and variation in texture and form whilst yelling time, neglect and changing weather to the viewer. Rusty and corroded surfaces also allow for light and colour to change the general demeanour of a subject by absorbing light instead of reflecting it, as well as redirecting and diffusing it depending on the severity of its texture. It's a great tool, an asset and a beautifully varied one at that.

So, please enjoy this selection of images below from not just the abstract photography gallery, but also industrial gallery too. Thanks to all of you featured here for providing us with the best in ferric eye-candy.

Great article, I couldn't agree with you more. There can be such beauty in rust that is so random and chaotic that it is rarely producted with other art forms. Thank you very much for the featuring one of my photographs in your article, I am very honored to have appear with so many wonderful photographs. :)
