Right from the start I want to say this; “I don’t think that all Anime/Manga artwork is bad.” That’s just not true, and I really like Anime movies, comic books and artwork. Some of the best stuff is Manga inspired. I got that out of the way so lets get to it:

-The Opinion Corner-

I browsed through the DigitalArt/Fanart/Game/Just In section and I wasn’t impressed by what I have seen, so I jumped over to the Popular Corner. And was amazed by what is in there. Almost all ,if not completely all, the art was anime based. And I understand people view it and favorite it, and if only anime gets in there that’s fine, but I will be brutally honest, most of that art sucks. And it’s not just in games category, almost all anime art isn’t very good.

And what about the actual Manga/Anime section?
You have seen it, you stopped going to there a long time ago, and only go there from time to time in hope that maybe something good will show up, but mostly it doesn’t. And it’s not like there isn’t any good anime work on devianrt, there is great stuff out there, Anime and None Anime.

Mostly the great stuff is in sub categories of Painting and Airbrushing. I mean just look at some of the popular stuff in the Manga/Anime section and check out the views that some of that stuff has. Most of it barely reaches 100 views. Why is that, and why the flood of all the bad work with rarely any good? As we all know good art takes time. Great art takes even more time. And what you see is what you get. But this should change, it really should.

Great artist go unappreciated on deviantart all the time, because people don’t bother to browse through the bad stuff to find and support the good stuff. And they just stick to people they watch and don’t care about anything else. And they have a right to do that, but if you want deviantart to be great, to be supportive of good artists then browse through the bad to find the good. Tell that person that you like their work and would like to see more, tell your friends about their artwork so that they can check it out and if they like it, support it.

Make the popular section worth something. Fill it with awe inspiring work that will amaze and inspire. Make this a community that you look forward to coming to because you know you will see amazing things here. And if people respond to your work respond back saying that you appreciate the recognition and that persons caring enough to say something positive or constructive about your work. There is great Art out there and if you just search for it you will find it, but when you do, support it. Because if you don’t care about their work, then why should anyone care about yours?
