Photo-Manipulation Love!

=ClockworkDesigns:iconClockworkDesigns: reports, 1d 7h ago
These are photo-manipulations that have been chosen based on the amount of creativity put into them or the type of techniques used to create such eye candy. Some of these people are fairly unknown and I wanted to give them an opportunity to be seen by the public. Please show the artists your support! :D

The Novel Side of Fan Art 3

=elegaer:iconelegaer: reports, October 23, 2006
The Novel Side of Fan Art 3

Another three books, or series of books, today! Dragonlance, novels by the Bronte sisters, and the Alice novels of Lewis Carroll.

Fantasy – Dragonlance

Ah, Dragonlance. Those books beloved of every fantasy fan's teenage years. I started reading these when I was about 14, and GCSEs suddenly seemed to become unimportant compared to Raistlin's trials. I can still remember the warm glow that seemed to surround me as I delved deep into Weis and Hickman's world.

I have to start with Raistlin, of course.

*Myar is, I think, the best deviant Dragonlance artist around. She is incredibly versatile, producing anything from these wonderful portraits of Raist:

to this incredibly cute, if rather uncanonical, chibi pic of Raistlin and Dalamar:

Another wonderful Dragonlance artist is ~airasan. Here are her pics of Raistlin and Dalamar:

Now ... away from the evil contingent to the Golden General. Here is Laurana, in two very different, equally beautiful, styles, by =melyanna and *Eldanis

From the Golden General to Goldmoon, by ~giantsquidstudio and Tika by *LinzArcher

And I suppose we should look at the guys too. Here's Huma by *Artgerm and Knights of Ansalon by *JasonEngle

Classics – the Bronte sisters

After featuring Jane Austen in the first Novel Side of Fan Art, I thought it's about time the Brontes got a mention. Or, more realistically, "Jane Eyre" and "Wuthering Heights".

So, Jane Eyre. Seemingly deviantArt's favourite Bronte novel. Here are some wonderfully atmospheric pictures of Jane by =disenchanted and *adina9016

and some costume designs by ~h-a-t

Now for Wuthering Heights angst. What more trauma and tragedy could one novel contain?

"Their love is doomed" by ~monstarling is just the epitome of the book:

and here are three other very very different illustrations from the book. Heathcliff by *kyla79, the windy moors by ~APerfektScream and Cathy by =ramy

Childrens – Alice in Wonderland / Alice through the Looking Glass

These books make me shiver. They are weird, amazing, unique, hallucinogenic, silly, complicated ... and they have spawned the most incredible range of fan art, from cutesy pics like this one of ~shizero:

to dark, macabre pics like this from *ketchup-suicide:

while passing through such strange, imaginative pieces as these from *Scarecrow63 and ~killthewaitress:

My favourite character in the books is the Cheshire Cat. He rocks. Imagine fading to just a smile, how cool is that?

So here are Cats from =thegirlinthebigbox ~vampiremackenzie and ~kittah:

And some suitably colourful and psychedelic depictions of other characters and scenes. By ~kyoht, ~mario2mc ~stolenwings and ~g-barr:

And that's all for now! Watch out for the next episode :D

"My name is Valerius." Valerius straightened his coat with a regal, arrogant jerk. "And I do take offense to him." (Sherrilyn Kenyon, "Night Embrace")
