Welcome to the weekly Help Desk news. In these weekly updates we will attempt to bring you the most up to date information, as well as provide some helpful hints for super duper deviantART fun.
Reminder
Before we get started this week we would like to remind users of a request made last week. This request is still in place, so please get those links in.
"In May we announced there was some data loss of downloadable files only, uploaded between 2004 and 2005. Backups have been loaded and before they can be run developers are asking for your help in fixing this issue. In order to help aide them in this request this is what we need from you: We need you to gather links to any pieces, including your own, which are affected by this issue.
Once gathered please send these links to the Help Desk under the contact category "Gallery Section Addition".
Once the Help Desk Team has gathered enough links from users, developers will know the exact pattern to where files are affected and can run the needed backups to repair these files to their original working order.
(Please note: This issue should not be confused with other gallery issues present at this time.)"
Hexe's Corner
Bugs bugs bugs , annoyingly frustrating and often at times confusing. Yeah they annoy us as well too, no worries you're not alone.

While browsing around the site over the day I notice users being frustrated with the current bugs and many of them ask why they take so long to be resolved over resolution times in the past.
There is a reason for this and that reason is in the past we often fixed things very fast, which lead to even more bugs in the end and when it came time for v5 we totally re-wrote the code from the ground up so there would be more faster flowing code and this is still being done.
Yes yes I know there are still some bugs in the meantime and this is normal when working with a very large site, in fact no site is 100% bug free nor will it ever be. But our goal is to work on more solid fixes this time, so the site has as less bugs as possible and this is why things take longer than in the "old days".
We think you will enjoy deviantART way more if bugs are solidly fixed and you deserve it!
Ewm's Corner
I would like to remind everyone that spamming of the Help Desk is not necessary in order to get your point across or looked at faster.
There are times when a user is facing harassment and in hopes of getting their case settled faster, they have all of their friends report the same issue to the Help Desk. In other circumstances, a user might have a great idea they would like to tell us about and instead of submitting one ticket, they have as many people tell us about the same idea.
While yes this could get our attention quickly it is not the best way to gain our attention. If we have to weed through many tickets that are the same this can slow down our response time to other matters that need just as much attention. Instead of submitting multiple tickets concerning the same matter, only one ticket is required and will be looked into just as fast if not faster.

Question about the hidden commets bugs. You said: Is that just for the deviant who hid them or is that for anyone? I've noticed that ever since a few weeks ago I couldn't read any comments that a deviant had hidden. Is that part of the bug you mentioned or is that intentional?
Thanks for the updates
