Mountain Dew® has busted the cap off their Green Label Art Limited Edition Bottle Series™ project and has teamed with deviantART for an exciting new contest. We're searching for an artist who can define their expression of DEW® by adding devious style to the mix! Enter to show us your dream DEW® design and win!
So instead of something trite and drearily obvious and orange hallowe'eny style - my contest for this month is about All Saints, and All Souls day...
I want you to write about death, and the dead. It can tie into hallowe'en as much or as little as you like but I'll warn you I am looking for some genuine and honest emotion here, Hallowe'en is a holiday - not an emotion, and it has been done.

"Is what you are posting informational and of value to the community at large?
Is it something that will interest a good cross section of the community?
Or is it something better suited to a journal since it is about you personally?
...A general rule of thumb for whether or not something should go in your journal instead of news would be “Is it about you?” ...If it pertains to you personally or a club you have or anything like that it is not really news."
While $lolly specifically suggests using your journal, it's obviously also okay to use the appropriate forums to alert interested parties to your contest.
But there's a difference between "interested parties" and "all of dA." The fact that after almost three days, this piece has only one fave (presumably your own) and one comment (mine), should alert you to the possibility that this wasn't the best place to put this.
But believe me, you're hardly the only one to do so. A lot of people are still confused by what's really news and what isn't; it's a learning curve for everyone.

But this isn't a contest. The contest is over, and the voters aren't eligible for any of the prizes.
This is easily a thread in the Deviation Thumbshare forum, where you can post pictures of the artwork and a link to the poll. However, I still don't see it as being of interest to the community at large; and judging by the lack of response here, the community at large agrees.

An article that shows you how to use the resources of dA to create your own journal templates. And there are plenty of awesome tutorials, stock images, guidelines, application resources and much more!
`arcipello's artwork is instantly recognisable. His vibrant colours and sci-fi scenes are breathtaking at times, pulling you into a world where man and machine live in colourful harmony.
An inspiration to many, Daniel's dedication to his craft is evident throughout his gallery, with many of his beautiful prints hanging on walls across the globe. In recognition as being one of the most successful artists in our deviantART community, we're delighted to award this month's Deviousness Award to `arcipelloRead More
