DaVinci, Picasso, Monet... these are all names I'm sure you've heard of before. They are the Masters of the art world and their talents are world renowned. Many of you should've already noticed, but during the past few months, there has been a huge ammout of fanart drawings around DeviantART. Many of you, including me as well, like the deviations, no doubt about it, but it's clearly something that has already been created by someone. Some deviants have even started to dissapear from DeviantART claiming this to have become "a Fansite", which is why many would like to see more original work.
Not that i don't like fanart or even appreciate it, i really do, but in my opinion, the most creative and what could be good works of art in this community are living in the shadows of the fanart community.
Help DeviantART by simply creating something to call your own. Fanart is appreciated, but let's try not to overflow it. Creativity, originality, and conceptual characters are being lost by the fanart fever. Don't let this get to you folks who make original works that go unnoticed because of fanart.
Fanart is allowed on DA, so you'll have to square with that.
there are a million original characters on DA, if you just don't browse the fanart categories, you will find them. thats the beauty of categories. you can choose to look in them, or choose not to.
The other side of that is, some people just are not comfortable as designers. they just draw for fun. if they draw fanart, thats their choice.
Just as its your choice to not look at it.
Well, on DA you add everything you want. If there is no problem with copyright, DA accept.
Fanart is a kind of art.

Please, don't be hypocrite because everyday we see digital arts without creative, just a simple copy with some changes from other artists.
So, if fanart isn't creative, many digital arts enter in the same way.

you fail to see my point. Although i also make fanart, i try not to do it by copying another person's style and adapting his/her character to my own style. Even if i create fanart, i can see that there's a HUGE database on DeviantART about some fanart that i do not approve. One of those would be the AkuRoku pairing, in which i like the Roxas character, but they exagerate the aspect of friendship these characters had.

not really. If one can use the style a person has created and adapt it to a character, you can improve the style by having a base one to start.

I may not change, but i can try to make things different. One's opinion may be futile, but with everyone helping, this might work.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
