`SparrowSong on writing, critique and her passions

^lovetodeviate:iconlovetodeviate: reports, September 28
An interview with writer, critic (critiquer?), lit senior, `SparrowSong. Here are some tidbits:

“I like that my passions change. If nothing else, it gives me more to write about.”

“Everyone has heard the expression, ‘Give a man a fish, he eats for a day; teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.’ If you don’t learn to critique, you will always be dependent on others to help you instead of being able to do it by yourself.”

“Art changes how we view the surface of the world to reveal truth or beauty—or both—underneath.”

Hope you had an awesome friday. :)

The rules of *fotoFRIDAY are simple: write a poem or story about the given picture. It can be inspired from the photo, about it, or an element from it. There are is no line minimum or maximum: just think of this as a weekly 'prompt' to get yourself inspired. The contest itself can be found every friday on my journal, so be sure to take a peek and give it a try.

Highlights

by =lovetodeviate

fotoFRIDAY has never been about crafting polished piece in less than a week; it's about inspiration, perhaps when you need it the most. Naked Noir is an intriguing, thought-provoking twist on the photo with a few wonderful lines that make prompts like this absolutely worth it:
"our stult and bulk,
our hideous mourn."

Go check it out!

For someone who is fairly new to poetry, =apocathary is headed in the right direction. feline malnutrition focuses on society's greed and over consumption. Not without its share of well-worded metaphors ( But what are we / If not men of hiss and scratch ), feline malnutrition is definiely worth the read.

Oh, lovely!

:devapothocary:'s poem is really good. I can't believe he's written only 5 poems ever.

'Thirty Years' by `bananaprincess is also great. I haven't read the others yet.
