This month, with focused, research-based activities and friendly advice, we're going to try to teach you how to take on both these roles--and show you how acquiring these skills can help make you a better reader and writer in the future.

Eldritch Cabal - Collaborative Lit

`adrift:iconadrift: reports, Nov 16, 2006
Here on Earth, as global myth and legend have it, a Golden Age existed in which the human world and the realm of the supernatural were one and the same.

:pointr: *EldritchCabal is more than just a gallery. It’s an entire world.

According to the legends, the crimes and neglect of humanity caused the worlds to be separated, torn apart until only the thinnest of veils still connected them.

:pointr: Pioneered by *salshep, *Adeimantus and =intangebility, this is an ongoing community project for writers and artists.

However, all our myths and legends concerning the demise of the Golden Age had it entirely wrong. It wasn’t human activity that caused the rift. Rather, it was the result of a great cosmic cycle — a shared dimensional orbit in which the melding and parting of the two realities was a natural event.

:pointr: The project is a shared fiction, in which each individual contribution is a unique thread in the overall tapestry of a specified storyline.

But after such a long time in isolation from the Otherworlds, we have all forgotten – or learnt to disbelieve – that any of it ever happened.

Now, the cycle is bringing them back together again. Strange phenomena is occurring. Increasing numbers of supernatural beings are finding their way into the harsh reality of the World of Form, and more humans are being drawn into the strangeness of the Otherworlds.

:pointr: Your task is to explore, in fiction or in art, the reunion of these dimensional worlds and the beings that occupy them. You may explore it from a human or supernatural perspective, using any beings from myth and legend you like. Alternatively, you can make up your own.

Short stories, poetry and original visual artwork are all encouraged.

Submissions will open for the first week of every month. The best submissions in poetry, prose and art will receive a special journal feature for that month. In addition to these regular features, there is a...

:bulletblue: LAUNCH COMPETITION! :bulletblue:

The best submissions received between 1-7th of December 2006 for the poetry, prose and visual art categories will receive a 3-month subscription plus a 1-month journal feature. The deviation judged best overall (regardless of category) will receive a 6-month subscription and a $30US book voucher from Amazon.

See *EldritchCabal's journal for submission guidelines and further policies. Work that has obviously not been proofed or polished will not be considered.

If you have any questions, *salshep, *Adeimantus and =intangebility will be happy to help you out.
