Who are we?
The Manga/Anime Gallery Directors
Gallery Updates
Well this month we did a lot of cleaning up of the Manga/Anime>digital art >3D category. It was a
mess. Thanks to ~
ken1171 for bringing that to our attention. We spent a lot of time moving miscats and reporting Policy violations in there. Its still not perfect, but now when you browse in that category, you at least see some 3D work. We will continue to clean it up as part of regular gallery maintenance.
The Manga/Anime > digital art >3D is for art created in a 3D program only. Please do not upload anything done in Photoshop or by traditional means to this category. Pay attention to gallery descriptions as you submit your art. If you have any questions about a gallery or category, please ask someone. Don't just guess. If you have had your work moved out of there, and its actually a 3D 'toon' render, just move it back, or let us know. Mistakes happen and its hard to tell if they are 3D renders or digital drawings sometimes. Please excuse the occasional mistake in there while we clean it up.
A side note: With the addition of the glorious Prints II, everyone on DA now has a prints account. this is great, but if you have any questions please consult the
Prints FAQ or ask someone. We are very friendly, and love attention so feel free to ask us anything, and if we don't know, we will try to find out for you. Keep in mind, art work with copyrighted characters are not allowed to be prints, unless you get permission from the creator! So be careful about what you post. in honor of prints 2, here are some nice, underexposed Manga/Anime Prints:

Please make sure when you are suggesting work for DD's that the deviations are in the correct category. All deviations must be in the Manga/Anime category.
We are not able to feature art from any other category on DA. You must suggest the work then, to the correct GD. For example. artwork placed in
Traditional art> drawings> People must be suggested to a
traditional art gallery director. If the artist has the work posted in
Manga/Anime>traditional art> paintings... we can feature it. So please, post your work in the Manga/Anime category, and encourage your friends to as well. You as artists are lucky you get a category to yourselves to post into, don't take it for granted

Its an asset to you. Then you can get the proper exposure for your work. 'Cuz lets face it, there is an anime category on DA, GD's from other categories, wont feature your work, so you make it impossible for yourself to get DD's and features by avoiding your category. Be proud of how you draw, and don't be ashamed of what you draw.
I know we mention this in every newsletter and AR update but please keep your gallery clean. Sketches on lined paper, spiral book bindings showing, photos of your art with dark shadows, and blurry images belong in your scraps. Deviations are refined finished pieces of work. If your work is poorly presented, and doesn't look loved, then others can hardly be expected to treat it as a deviation.
When we move art to scraps, we are not judging your artistic ability, only the presentation of your work. A gallery should exhibit your best work, and you should present it as such. If not, it belongs in your scraps. Simple as that.

Its nice to see someone out there who can use traditional tones, and actually mix them well with with digital tones. Tones are so expensive, its tough for people to really get into them. ~
ComiPa does a wonderful job of this. It renewed my love of tones, and gave me hope for digital tones. I really enjoyed the 2 tutorials posted, because they can both work for traditional and digital tones. Wonderful sketches, and skillful toning make this gallery worth having a look!
Almost DD's
Sometimes we get so many suggestions, and some just don't make the cut, but they are worth showing off anyways. heres just a few of them.

We Recommend
Please use the report policy violation button located on every deviation, to report policy violations. Its Very important in helping keep the galleries clean, and free from rips, and stolen art work (among other things) it helps us out. On that note, Please do it right. Choose the right category for your report. and always provide evidence for your report. If you say its a rip of a Sailor Moon Manga cover, use google to find some evidence. include links in your report. The C&E staff cant do a thing if they don't see that evidence. Its impossible for them to know of everything ever made in the history of time. So you have to show them. If they don't have the evidence, they cant delete the violation, which leaves it to sit there and keep violating.
Also, When you come across a ripped work posting news articles/journals "calling out" that deviant in public, is against policy. What you are doing, is not only behaving like a child, but encouraging flaming on the deviant in question. If it turns out you were wrong about your suspicions ( it
can happen) then you have caused a lot of grief for an innocent person. Flaming of the deviant is not allowed either. You think you are doing some great service, but what you are doing is violating policy yourself. (And making yourself look like a fool) Use proper procedures, and keep it a private matter. Use a little maturity and discretion and you will be treated like an adult. and heck, you wont get a black spot on your record, or suspended from DA for following procedures. So please dont post news articles and journals about these incidents. keep them discrete, and it will clear up faster. If you want, Note us and we can help you make your report more thorough. Also keep in mind. your reports are anonymous to everyone except staff, and related admin, so you wont get flamed or anything for reporting unless you announce your actions.
In Conclusion
Sorry this issue has been a little preachy and long winded, but its very important for everyone to understand whats going on so our relationship can be a productive and peaceful one. Don't hesitate to talk to us. we love attention
Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and Happy new years to all!!

My favorite part was the Almost DDs and the Featured artist. You don't see much of the people you put up, but from browsing through their work, it's completely obvious they are the 'hidden gems' of DA.
Forgive me for the run-on sentences, just wanted to give my feedback for such a splendid first go
