Welcome to the weekly Help Desk news. In these weekly updates we will attempt to bring you the most up to date information, as well as provide some helpful hints for super duper deviantART fun.



Help Desk Holiday Closure Dates

In addition to the normal closure times for the Help Desk, the Help Desk will be closed Monday, December 25th for the Christmas Holiday and will reopen Tuesday, December 26th. The Help Desk will then close again on Monday, January 1st for New Years Day and reopen Tuesday, January 2nd.

You may still submit tickets during this time and they will be answered in the order that they are received when we return.

If you have critical matter needing immediate attention (and not policy related), please email help@deviantart.com.

You can also visit #help on the dAMN messaging network to receive live help 24/7.




Reminder

Before we get started this week we would like to remind users of a request still standing.


"In May we announced there was some data loss of down loadable files only, uploaded between 2004 and 2005. Backups have been loaded and before they can be run developers are asking for your help in fixing this issue. In order to help aide them in this request this is what we need from you: We need you to gather links to any pieces, including your own, which are affected by this issue.

Once gathered please send these links to the Help Desk under the contact category "Gallery Section Addition".

Once the Help Desk Team has gathered enough links from users, developers will have the information that is needed to identify the backups required to repair these files to their original working order.

(Please note: This issue should not be confused with other gallery issues present at this time.)"




Hexe's Corner


It's been quite a busy week for the desk. After the Holiday and weekend closure we returned to 20 full pages of inquiries, which for those who're curious is 1,000 cases. All inquiries were answered by Monday night. The majority of these reports were on Gallery Issues, speaking of these be sure to check out the bug section of this weeks article for some important information.

In other news I will be making some FAQ updates tomorrow, new things will be added by popular demand and some tweaks will be made. So keep an eye out for these changes.

I would also like to give a shout out to $dionyziz who is celebrating his Birthday today.




Ewm's Corner

Today I would like to remind everyone about an error that can occur when logging on to deviantART. Normally when logging in you type your username and password at the top of the main deviantART page. Now you may ask "This is easy so what sort of error could occur?"

If a user tries to log in while on the logout deviantART page, this will cause an error. Most often, this occurs when a user logs out of one account and then tries to log into a different account. The error caused by this will state:

"Forbidden

You don't have permission to access the page at [link] Please consult our help library if you need any assistance."

When this happens, it may lead the user to believe they have entered the wrong password or something has gone wrong with their account, which can cause further confusion. In order to keep this from happening what you will need to do is sign in on a different page other than the logout page.
